Description: Eat, drink and be messy. A visit to Beal's Lobster Pier is always a highlight - a restaurant that's on the water, with an atmosphere that's down to earth. At our working lobster pier in Southwest Harbor, Maine, you and your family will have a blast watching the boasts coming in and the lobstermen unloading their fresh catch. Hear the creak of rope on the moorings. Catch the scent of saltwater on the breeze and enjoy the waterfront view while chowing down on the freshest lobster you can eat. (Don't worry, the napkins are on us!)

“Freshest Lobster Ever!”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

I've been to Beal's before and It has always been good, but this last visit was Fantastic! The whole place looks great with big chalk board signs, fresh paint and new super clean bathrooms. There were so many great choices on the menu. We had Lobster (of course!), Lobster grilled cheese with the choice of Gluten free Bread, the Dockhand burger with this amazing Siracha mayo and bacon on it, chowder, hand cut fries and sweet potato wedges, homemade applesauce and Blueberry pie.Lots of choices for the Seafood lover and the Non-Seafood eaters in the group. The service was really friendly and the view was amazing. You can even arrive by boat! We will definitely be back more frequently.

“Worst Seafood I have ever eaten!”
Reviewed May 31, 2014

I am 65 and lived in Maine in Otter Creek 41 years ago and have eaten seafood in Maine many times and in many places and without equivocation this is the worst excuse for food I have ever eaten. I took six people out to dinner and spent $189 and honestly believe that at $18.90 I would have been disappointed. I hope this posting will save some folks from a very unpleasant experience.

“The best lobster ever.....”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

This is not a restaurant with waiters and crispy napkins. It is a take-out window with tables outside (covered porch is available), paper plates, plastic cups and forks. You choose your live lobster, they boil and cut (not clean) it for you, and then you eat the tastiest lobster you might imagine. Crab and corn chowder was OK, fresh, but nothing special. Blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream was delicious. Two one and half pound lobsters, two chowders, two beers, two coleslaw and fries and one pie/ice cream and soda came to 75 dollars.
It is for you to decide, but I think it is very reasonable.
Young ladies and gentlemen in the open kitchen inside made me feel like I was their regular and always expected customer.
It is away from Bar Harbor, twenty minutes drive, or ten minutes from the Park Road Loop.
Worth ze detour.

“Freshest food in Maine!!!”
Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

Just had a yummy lunch including delicious fresh lobster rolls, homemade cole slaw, catch-of-the-day fish sandwich and local "Lobster Ale". Everything was delicious and you can't beat the view! We will definitely be back here as soon as we can!
