“Good News and Bad News”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

The good news is that the Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. The lobby looks amazing. The bad news is that this hotel is an older hotel that is in the process of being renovated. (The picture is deceiving) I was extremely disappointed when I got off of the elevator and when I entered my room. Everything is outdated. The carpet is old. The walls are peeling. My room had a stench. The toilet is old...and so on...and so on. I would stay there again once the entire hotel has been completely renovated.

Stayed here because I couldn't seem to find anything in Downtown Portland. We made the reservation through Priceline.

If you stay here, you MUST have a car - you're miles away from the city. I was visiting a student in college and had to make the drive a few times a day.

Although the room was okay, the beds were quite comfortable and the staff was friendly, it still needed a facelift - nothing major, the lighting is a little strange. The elevators are VERY slow [a little scary].

The walls might be a little thin - we could hear our neighbors on both sides at different times of the day. And, one night a tractor trailer was idling outside our window for hours - the hotel is on a major street and off a freeway.

No refrigerator in the room - a very small coffee maker that never had everything needed - one day no coffee, one day on sugar/creamer, next day no cups. It's a simple thing that housekeeping should keep an eye on.

There is a restaurant/bar in the lobby - and there are free cookies when you check in.

Room Tip: There are two towers, not sure which one is better but one is farther from street noise.

I ended up with this hotel thru a Hotwire booking. Staff at check-in were friendly and helpful. The warm cookies were delicious. Staff were pro-active in asking if we needed a crib for our 7 month old upon seeing her (we brought our own).

The hotel gives the impression it is brand new (they use an artists rendering of the exterior on promotional materiel) but it is not, it's an older hotel that was recently renovated. Some parts of the room were obviously renovated and other parts not so much. Nothing to compromise the cleanliness and comfort of the room - just little attentions to detail that were overlooked (in the bathroom, carpet, ceiling, etc.)

This is a very nice Doubletree, with the usual cookies when you check in and very nice comfortable rooms.. Staff was very friendly and the location is great, with the Mall directly across the street.
Van service to the airport is frequent and very close
Cant think of anything bad about this place.... nice lobby bar/restaurant.
Internet worked perfectly..You really cant go wrong here.
I cannot speak to the value as I was on business and it was paid by my company.

Room Tip: The hotel is round so,,, I guess you could ask for a room depending on whether you want the morning...

Our reservations had been made directly with the hotel. Luckily we had our confirmation number after they couldn't find our reservation. Seems as though they were made for the wrong month. Luckily they had rooms and we were accommodated easily. I noted signs in the lobby that stated they were under renovation. I'm guessing, or hoping, that our room had yet to be updated. Wallpaper peeling, older style design and a tub drain that simply could not keep up with the water coming from the shower. Overall though it suited our needs to be close to the airport, sheets were clean and the floor was relatively quiet.

First the pro: the desk workers were great and so nice, greeted me with a smile and warm cookie

Cons: bed wasn't changed ( sheet was down at wadded up at feet ) and I had to switch rooms. At first it looks like a nice updated room but then you start to notice the frayed carpet, worn and torn towels, cracked toilet, ceiling cracks and old rusty shower. It's like they tried to update but forgot about tge real issues. Big work needed here.

Flat screen big tv and single serve coffee maker plus citrus toiletries in bath but can't make you forget all the problems.

If you are heading to Portland for some shopping, then this hotel is in a great location. It's just across the street from the mall - perfect for Black Friday shopping! The hotel is very nice and clean. Check-in was quick and easy and made perfect by the warm cookies. The room is a standard room, clean, comfy and decent beds. We didn't have a chance to try the dining room or use the fitnes center.
We are already planning on staying here again in the future!
