“Tasty Mexican”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

The chicken burrito was very large and very good. I ate the whole thing, plus chips and guacamole. The guacamole was tasty, but a little too salty for me. The staff is very friendly.
The place is a bit rustic, but the food is worth coming back for.

“A yum and must-go”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

For the burrito craving this is the place to go. We have dined in and gotten takeout orders without a miss. Monster sized Burritos and we are having a hard time making it past our Carne Asada, Carnitas (my favorite) and the Chorzio favorites. The tacos are excellent too!!! Plus a nice variety of salsas!! Service is attentive and friendly so do drop in to feed that Mexican craving.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Off the beaten path for most, Taco Trio is well worth the small side trip for delicious, traditional Mexican food. A simply menu unfolds into a highly customizable meal with their awesome salsa bar. I love the mushroom tacos as does my wife. She also enjoys their fish taco. Fresh and flavorful, three tacos for $9 is enough food for this big guy. Good selection of local beverages and ample beer choices.

Taco Trio offers counter service and a few tables indoor and out. Expect it to be hot inside during the warmer months. This place is all about the food. While comfortable enough inside, there's nothing memorable to comment on.

What keeps me from going here more often are the hours. It's only open Wednesday through Saturday, and my taco cravings don't care what day it is.

“Big Flavors in this Nice Little Place”
Reviewed July 4, 2012 via mobile

YESSS!  Wonderful tacos and a salsa bar in S. Portland.  I loved the Chicken taco w/mole sauce and the Pastor (pork in adobo-pineapple sauce) taco, both of which were wonderful with the mild and flavorful mango salsa as well as the medium grilled pineapple salsa.  I'm looking forward to returning to try their other menu items.

The friendly cashier will give you a sample of anything you would like to try before you order if you ask.  I tried the Carnitas - seared pork - which she says simmers and sears in a large pot throughout the day.  It was delicious.  While you get a small contained for something at the salsa bar to go with your dish, you can pay $1 for an extra salsa.  These are not chincy, liquidy salsas, they are chunky and very fresh accompaniments.

I was hoping they might offer a grilled fish taco in addition to the battered fish, but at this time, they don't.  The cashier said she would suggest it to the owner who is still tweaking the menu.

Other menu items include:  Sopes (handmade fried tortilla bowl w/beans, queso cotija, sour cream and a choice of filling - chorizo, beef, cactus, pork or mushrooms); burritos; quesadillas, tamales and various sides.  The beverages are incredibly refreshing -- I tried canteloupe, lime and tamarind - separately, of course!  I was given a small cup to try them all before I decided which one to get.  Another offering was made with coconut and milk.

Truly authentic Mexican, not fast food Mexican or Foodie Mexican,Real Mexican food! The place is a bit small, but they have take out. The Taco's are great as are the Quintilla's. You can even get a goat meat Taco if your into that. If you've been craving good mexican, do yourself a favor and visit this place.
