“A cute lighthouse in a fun little fort”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

While not obvious or well marked on how to get to, once you find it, its a cute little lighthouse, although I though Bug Light was nicer. There are some interesting fortifications around the light which make for some fun exploration although it does get a little slippery down by the water. Parking is a snap as well.

“Scenic Lighthouse”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Spring Point is a very nice lighthouse in Portland. Although Portland Head Light is more "majestic", Spring Point is more interactive and engaging for visitors as you have to side-step the numerous boulders in the way. This allows for a more outdoorsy experience than at Portland Head Light which is more for guided tour groups. This lighthouse is more for the adventurous traveler. I highly recommend as you're coming back from Portland Head Light: South Portland is beautiful overall.

“This Light Rocks”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

A short drive from the Bug Light is the Spring Point Ledge Light which sits on the end of its man-made breakwater pier.
This Lighthouse is the only one with public access at certain times and is located near Fort Road on Spring Point Shoreway. It is an enjoyable walk across the large laid rocks to the Light providing visitors looking back with views of Casco Bay and the Portland Head Light in the distance to the left and the Bug Light closer to the right. The old fortification remains located on the Southern Maine Community College are also interesting to explore. Easy access, free parking and a small shop with seasonal openings.

“Beautiful view, plentiful parking”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

We have been here too many times to count!! Scenery is beautiful and anyone you encounter is always friendly-we have found this to be true of all Mainers, by the way. The last time the water was so tempting that daughter and I went wading. Wow-colder water than expected but very refreshing.

“Cute little light”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

While this light may not be huge, it's still fun to see, and you can walk out to it and take in some good views of the harbor. If you are like me and just like to take in lighthouses, this one adds to the list and because of the sparkplug style, it's a bit more unique as well. We weren't able to tour it, just walk around, but it was still worth the stop!
