This lighthouse is located at the end of a small walkway made of granite boulders. Be sure to walk out and around the lighthouse -- it makes for a beautiful view of the water and the city -- and from here you can spot both the Portland Observatory and Portland Head. A nice place to stop by and visit.

This lighthouse is the only "sparkplug" shaped lighthouse you can walk out too. It is surrounded by the Southern Maine Community College on picturesque Portland Harbor. The lighthouse is open for tours on limited weekends. This is an active lighthouse still in use although it is automated. If you ever in the area, it is a worth while visit. The walk from land out along the breakwater is very uneven. Not wheelchair accessible. I grew up a half mile from this ionic lighthouse.

My husband and I are Maine residents and have been to Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse on many occasions. However, we had never been for a visit on a tour day so today was our lucky day! The tour guides were very knowledgable and all the volunteers were very welcoming. We've always loved the walk out onto the granite, but today we got the wonderful interior view. What a unique window into the state's history and amazing vantage point on the incredible Portland waterfront! Don't come to Portland without stopping here! Thanks to all the generous volunteers for their time, Amy & Vince L

Great day trip for family with lots of historical information, fabulous views of bay and sights, fun walk across the jetty, and wonderful tour guides. The lighthouse is fascinating and well worth a stop.

Beautiful grounds right next to a small college campus. Nice little beaches, remnants of an old fort, and a fantastic breakwater to walk across to get to the lighthouse.
