Heard about this great restaurant and had to try it out. The food was really good. The place has charm and the service is good. Great place for a romantic dinner for two.

We ventured out on a single digit night to celebrate a winter anniversary after lots of searching on Trip Advisor to find a "new" place to try... we opted for the drive to Skowhegan mostly because DW saw escargot on the menu and the reviews here suggested we'd not be disappointed... and we were not. We were greeted warmly... seated promptly and received extremely timely and gracious service throught an excellent meal. The only negative I can come up with is there was a long list of specials--too long to really remember and consider from our server's descriptions. We should have studied the board when we arrived or--ideally--had a written list at the table. This is truly fine dining... the fact that there are different rooms provides some sense of privacy... our meals (filet of sole and veal marsala) were excellent, quantity good and almost artistic. I found myself tempted to lick my plate after finishing my appetizer of scallops wrapped in bacon with maple... the ultimate level of service was demonstrated when we left and the hostess called me by name. Unless your dining out budget is large you probably won't eat here every week (we each had a couple drinks, appetizer, entree and the check was over $100 with tip), but when you feel like something special, give it a try!

his was a wonderful, unexpected surprise . The meal we had rivaled any first class restaurant anywhere we have been. The service was wonderful too. Will definitely make it part of our ritual going skiing

This restaurant is on the top of anyone's list for any special occasion. The service is outstanding.
You are always greeted at the door with a smile and once at your seated at your table you are waited on immediately with an explanation of specials of the day. Drinks are delivered with courtesy and then your order is taken. To start, your salad is served as fresh as any can be along with a special bread. You are not rushed while eating your salad as your meal is being prepared and then served once your server clears your table of your empty salad plate. Now it's time to settle into your wonderful meal which is nothing but grade "A" quality food. After all this excellent food and drink comes the best part, dessert. No matter how full you are, you just can't resist the dessert selection. All is made from scratch and out of this world "good".
