We had tried to book the A.V. Nickels which is immediately next door to The Homeport. It was full due to a wedding party and they suggested we try The Homeport. What a great stroke of luck that was! The Homeport was in everyway, just perfect. This is a big, beautiful old sea captain's home which has been expanded and lovingly restored. The way it has been decorated with period style wallpapers and antique furnishings made us feel instantly at home. Everything about this place was just wonderful. The biggest treat was the Mermaid restaurant downstairs. Reminiscent of an English pub, we were anxious to sit down and enjoy a pint followed by prime rib. The staff were engaging and full of fun. I might never again see a piece of prime rib as large as those set before us for dinner that night. Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. For those who prefer seeking out small inns and B&B's of quality, this is what it is all about!

This was our second visit to the Homeport. We actually found the Inn and met the Innkeepers Anita and Todd McLellan last year on Labor Day Weekend. We toured the Inn and had a lovely dinner in the Mermaid Restaurant. This year for Labor Day Weekend we booked for two nights and two other couples met us there and stayed two nights as well. From the minute we arrived we felt welcomed and cared for. Our room was the smallest in the back of the Inn but it was lovely and comfortable with a Tea & Coffee Basket and Mini Fridge, private Bath and was decorated in a quaint romantic style. Lovely ambiance and antiques throughout the entire Inn made us feel we had settled back in time for a luxurious stay. This time we actually went to Pond's Lobster Pound in Searsport and brought back freshly caught and prepared Seafood which we ate outside on the Slate patio by the waterfall......the owners made every effort to ensure we did not lack for anything. We all met in the afternoon for 'Tea' and then in the evening we all played games in the lovely front parlour. Got some great card tips from the owner, Todd as well. Breakfasts were personally prepared by the Hosts and were simply delicious and of great variety and their Manager 'Marsha(?)' I think her name is was so personable and friendly; we liked her instantly. To make a long story short; we are planning the same weekend next year only perhaps for a night longer! Great job running this type of Inn and Kudos to the Owners and staff!!!!

Room Tip: I rated the sleep quality less than excellent because our room was the Crows Nest which is just over the Restaurant and Pub and some sound did carry through but not enough to cause us major problems. It was still a lovely room and great value.

Hospitality at its finest! The Homeport Inn in Searsport Maine is a quaint and comfortable Inn now managed by professionals who understand what guests expect, and who cater to the guests every need. From the cozy comfortable and clean rooms to the delicious meals available in the Mermaid restaurant, the Homeport Inn is Maine’s best kept secret. Our experience here over Labor Day weekend was exquisite, relaxing and just what we had hoped for. Five stars to the Proprietors, and family friendly staff.

Room Tip: The bacon wrapped filet is to die for, ask for the bread pudding with caramel to make it a feast!

We arrive in ME Saturday afternoon, we were greeted by Todd and Anita Mclellan who are co-owners of the beautiful Bed & Breakfast on Route 1.

They showed us to our suite with an attached kitchenette, coffee grinder, fresh coffee beans, nice comfortable bed with an attached shower. The air conditioner was set on low to remove the humidity and they have a great breakfast menu for the following morning.

We were told about the local events, nice drives to be had and some great tours. We actually went to visit Bucksport, ME and then went to Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Observatory which is 426 ft based on their recommendation.

The place is easy to get to, well priced, is a really unique place and very comfortable, we couldn't have had a better stay. I would recommend the Homeport Inn to anyone.

Room Tip: The Suite is great!

This is a lovely old captains mansion. Wonderful fully furnished rooms with excellent view's of the well maintained gardens. The staff goes out of their way to put on a full service breakfast with an extensive menu of choices ( Way better than that continental breakfast crap) I look forward to going back and enjoying the sights in the fall
