Description: Located in the heart of Acadia National Park, the Jordan Pond House has been offering lunch and dinner of over 100 years. We are best known for our always fresh from the oven popovers. In addition, we serve soup, sandwiches, salads, lobster rolls, seafood and other entrees. We are currently closed for the 2017 season. We will be reopening in May of 2018.

We tried to eat here in the early afternoon but the wait was too long. We decided to walk the dog around the pond. The walk was beautiful with plenty of photo ops of the family walking. We walked counter clockwise so the more difficult part of the walk was the last third of it. When we finished we were able to get seated immediately before the restaurant changed over to dinner. This place is famous for its popovers and they don't disappoint! They come with butter and jam. I had mine with a bowl of creamy lobster stew that was deelish. The staff was courteous and friendly and did not rush us out. At the end the waiter offered to take our picture with the Bubbles in the background.

Visited this place based on the reviews and was disappointed with food and value for money. Service was good but the food was average for its price. The ladies rest room closest to the dining hall was closed but they did have an alternate restroom. Best to pack a lunch while driving in the park and just pass on this place.

Acadia Nat'l Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the US; the view from the top of Cadillac Mountain is breathtaking. We ended our Acadia visit with a wonderful meal at JORDON POND HOUSE Restaurant. The restaurant's interior is attractive with high beams and a wall of glass looking out on a gorgeous natural landscape. We were a group of six; we ordered lobster, seafood and steak dinners with soup, salads; all were very good. As I recall, we ordered the evening 'special' which was a 3-course meal for $27. per person. We had the popovers with the meal and then some ordered the popover dessert as well!! I had the blueberry dessert which was packed w/ tons of wild Maine blueberries! The service was excellent. Reservations are recommended or there will be a wait. Jordon Pond was our favorite restaurant visited during our 10 day Maine vacation in August 2013.

I wanted to give Jordon Pond House an excellent, but a couple of things are keeping me from theat. First, the service is great. The staff is very friendly and attentive and really works hard. The food is good, so good we went back twice, once for a lunch and second time for just a snack and to enjoy the view. Rain kept us from eating outside on the first trip, but it was still a good view and the food was good. The stew had good flavor and not a lot of lobster, and the lobster roll was rated five out of the six I had this trip. The ice cream is great and the chocolte sauce is really, really good. The popover a la mode is a bit of a challenge to eat, and there is where I will start with why I did not go with an excellent. The popover a la mode could have a bigger base plate, not a tea cup plate. Trying to eat that thing in a small bow, placed on a small plate with ridges in it is not easy. A flat plate would be better, and a little bigger bowl would be nice. Both of our forks were bent, not just a little bit, but a lot. The tea pot for the hot tea had a broken cap and as others have mentioned, the communal grab in the basket for a popover is uncessary as a server could easily use tongs and place it on the plate and remove the dirty hands going into the basket.

Overall, it is worth a visit and the view is woorth the price of admission. Be sure you get reservations if you don't want to wait.

A recommendation brought us here and now its my turn to recommend. This is simply one of the best restaurants we've ever been to. Start with the location, adjacent to a magnificent lake with a spectacular view. The grounds are beautiful and you can walk around the lake, stopping at various benches. The service is awesome. Every wait staff was friendly and helpful. The order came out quickly and waiters were just the right amount of attentive. we had the lobster stew and popovers. Lobster stew in Maine! Forget about it! absolutely delicious. The popovers were in a class by themselves. I brought the kit home and they are just as good at home. We went late for dessert as well and had the blueberry pie. Another awesome feat. You must go if you are in Acadia. Well worth the stop.
