My wife and I at here a few days ago, and I have to say we were both very impressed with everything. First thing you notice is the beautiful view. Set out on the lawn, overlooking the water, "Bubbles", and other mountains, this is the type of restaurant that you get upset if the service is too fast. You WANT your dinner to take a while to come out, it's just so peaceful and relaxing.

We really didn't know what to expect here in terms of quality, but the food was very good. They started us off with popovers, which were great, with a nice homemade strawberry jam. My seafood stew was packed with potatos and seafood, heaping spoonfulls in every bite.

For our entrees, we had crab cakes, and boiled lobster. Both were excellent, MUCH better than we were expecting. Having had lobster from Wiscasset to Lubec, this was one of my favorites.

It was very busy when we arrived, and we figured it would be quite a while before we had a seat. After you sign in, you get a vibrating pager that alerts you when you are ready. We went upstairs into the shop, and before we were finished in the shop the pager was beeping, less than 10 minutes from the time we got it. There are quite a few tables available, so even if it's busy, ask how long the wait is because it may be alot shorter than you think, and it's well worth the wait even if it's not.

Pricing was a few dollars higher than other local restaurants, but show me another local restaurant that has a view like this, and with the quality of the food we received, we didn't care what the price was. Top notch, and this is a definite stop for us next time we go to Acadia.

A visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is just not complete without a visit (or two or three!) to Jordan Pond House! Nothing beats sitting on the lawn eating popovers after hiking around Jordan Pond or climbing the Bubbles. Very casual during the day, they even provide water for their many dog visitors. We usually go once for just tea and popovers, once for lunch (the lobster bisque is wonderful!), and have started a tradition of ending our week with a dinner inside at sunset (crabcakes are terrific). The staff is from all over the world and we have met many interesting young people. Highly recommend!

I suggest you go to Jordan Pond for the popovers & chai tea for $10.95. The popovers are yummy & the chai was delicious. It is sweet & seasoned with tasty cinnamon. The building is lovely. There was no service on the lawn due to windy conditions.

We hiked up to the Jordan Pond House for lunch. It's the perfect spot after a morning hike. The food was good but the atmosphere was definitely the best part. Would recommend to anyone visiting Acadia National Park.

During our week at Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, we ate twice at the Jordan Pond House. Once we sat on the lawn and enjoyed the fantastic view of Jordan Pond and the two mounains we had climbed earlier in the day--the North and South Bubbles. The second time we ate inside due to the weather, but outside is best. My favorite lunch is the lobster bisque which comes with 2 hot popovers. It is such a treat to eat there every time we are in Bar Harbor. The famous dessert is a popover filled with your favorite ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. My favorite is their own blueberry ice cream accompanied with their Chai tea which is the best I have ever had. They also offer their own fresh squeezed lemonade which is delicious. People come from all over and it can get quite crowded with a wait to be seated.
