This is a great l museum, with a fantastic collection of early automobiles. The museum has a wonderful atmosphere, unhurried, relaxed, and inviting. You could easily spend hours here, and after hiking and touring the region, its a perfect way to spend a quiet afternoon. Its immaculate in appearance, and has areas where visitors can sit and read or watch a film. The car collection is truly impressive. If you are the least bit interested in antique auto's, I would say this museum is a must!

Totally unexpected. We expected some rusty old cars in a dirty old building and instead found a truly magnificent collection of rare antique automobiles, beautifully exhibited, in an immaculate setting. The text panels were fascinating, informative, and educational. The staff were full of delightful stories about the cars and their owners. The day we visited a group of volunteers were working on a Model T Ford, started it up, and we got a ride in it. The Museum turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation.

Always a delight to introduce friends and bring visitors from away to this special museum on the "quietside" of Mount Desert Island. Check the museum's website for special events and maybe you'll get a ride in a Model-T or Stanley Steamer. Last year I caught a ride on the Stanley Mountain Wagon–a real adventure!
