“Renee and the crew are great!!”

My family goes to this restaurant 2-3/month for breakfast. The food and waitstaff are great, breakfast portions are huge and even if the wait looks imposing, the line moves quickly.

“Good breakfast”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

I have eaten breakfast and lunch here. Good food for a good price. It is right at the airport looking at the planes parked on the tarmac.

The Cockpit Café is located at Sanford Airport and shares a building with Southern Maine Aviation, a flight instruction school.

The inside is small with a counter that has a few stools plus about dozen tables that seat four. It has a cozy cafe atmosphere.

Normally, it’s a very busy place because it serves the best breakfast in the area at reasonable prices. But, when I arrived on my recent visit on a shopping trip to Maine, it was not crowded. I think it was because of the moderate rain and partly because of the hour. It was getting onto lunchtime.

I took a window table near the sign that says “Chow - hound.” I ordered a la carte---a scrambled egg at 79 cents, a grilled English muffin at 89 cents, and a blueberry pancake at $1.99.

While waiting, I enjoyed a cup of decaf coffee at $1.39.

Service was excellent. Just as I was thinking about asking for a refill, the waitress came with the pot of coffee.

My breakfast came on two large plates. I was amazed at the size of the blueberry pancake. It took up one whole plate. The 8” pancake was light and fluffy and LOADED with those small, sweet wild Maine blueberries. It was EXCELLENT. The scrambled egg was very good. The English muffin was grilled just right.

These are the reasons why the Cockpit Café is the #1 restaurant in Sanford.

“If you are expecting Diner, it is perfect”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

This little place at the tiny airport is a really terrific diner. Great breakfast, well prepared and generous in portion. Waitress was friendly and service was good. Lots of regulars, lots of talking , lots of good humor. Their homemade hash is excellent as well as the homemade biscuits and gravy. Prices are reasonable and it is an easy place to find right off the road into the airport.
