We've stayed here 3 times before and loved the rooms and the area. But, often found the desk staff downright indifferent or unfriendly. Which didn't matter because we chose this place because it's more of a motel than an inn. We booked a room for one night and paid in full over a month before our stay. We arrived at 3 pm and were given a room on the side of the house that fronted the main road and the side of the property. The room was tiny and stuffy. The only window that could open was a skylight directly over the bed. There was a second floor, barely furnished, which had a window overlooking the back of the property (water view), but you had to bend your head to get near, as it was under the rafters. It was also hot and stuffy up there, with no ac. We went to the desk and said the room was nothing as described. There was no access to to the outside--no balcony or deck. Manager was unavailable. Long time desk person showed up after a half hour, extremely rude. Said she thought it was a very nice room and that's all they had. Manager was finally contacted and we were offered a room in the sister property next door (which is not comparable--sad and much more downscale), stay where we were, or leave and have our money refunded. It was a Friday late afternoon, our only day in Camden. We didn't want to look for another place. So we stayed, but we asked if we could receive a discount because the room was nothing as we had expected. Manager sent word the next day--no. Really frustrating as we had booked a month in advance, and the room selected on line was nothing like this room. Unfortunate, because as other people have said, the rooms in general are very nice and clean. Even our room was clean, but stuffy, small, and no access to outside. We had purposely chosen the room because of the balcony. Beware, the rooms on the web site may not reflect what you will actually be assigned. And even the desk staff admitted this. And the manager really doesn't care what you think.

My Husband and I went to Maine last week in hopes for some much needed down time. After the flight from High Point, NC and a 2 hour drive to Rockport, we were getting very excited about finally reaching our destination. It was beautiful, we were honestly in awww. The landscaping was very tasteful and elegant. The office Staff was very warm and welcoming and they answered any and all questions or concerns that we had. When we arrived at our room, we were both speechless, we felt as though we were home. The room was very clean and our bed looked so comfortable. The view was so romantic and calming. I really can't say enough about the place. We loved our stay very much and if ever we decide to travel to Maine again, this will be the place we stay. Thank you so much for haveing a bit of heaven tucked away for 2 people that were in much need of it all. The Freeman's

Room Tip: We stayed in room 117 and it was quiet, clean and very private.

Our 6th time here and it never disappoints. Wonderful rooms, great view of Penbay, quiet, infinity edge heated pool and friendly staff. Close to good restaurants and bustling Camden harbor or quieter Rockport waterfront. Already looking forward to our next visit.

All of the rooms are spotless and have great views of the water. You can walk right down to the water and swim, as well as swim in a small, but very nice infinity pool. The staff has always been very friendly

We stayed for one night in August. The room was beautiful and the view was spectacular from the balcony. The grounds around the hotel were impeccable. It was so nice to walk down the to private beach, there were chairs and umbrellas provided for the guests. The pool was also nice, small though for two hotels sharing.
