“Best Seafood Chowder Known to Man”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2014

The Rockland Cafe has almost too many great choices on their menu but the one that keeps us coming back is the seafood chowder - clams, haddock, shrimp, lobster, scallops in a broth that is rich but light. Delicious.

“New England Diner Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2014

We stopped in for dinner on a Monday night - almost everything is closed on Mondays in Rockland except this was one of the few restaurants open. This is clearly a family run restaurant that is very much like a diner - no frills, but very good prices especially for lobster dinners. The service was great and people were super friendly. They have a kids menu and our daughter had a hot dog with milk in a sippy cup that we could take home with us. This is not a fancy place, but it is good and very reasonable.

“Awesome food at a good price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2014

the quantity of food for the price paid cannot be beat. The triple lobster was my beau's favorite meal! I'd recommend; nothing fancy, diner atmosphere, good value.

“Excellent down-home food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2014

Wanted to get away from the more touristy restaurants in Rockland so we started walking north through town and stopped at the Rockland Cafe & Bakery since the menu looked good (plus, all the specials they had posted outside the restaurant sounded appealing). Other members of our traveling party had the same idea as they joined us not long after. Even though it was after 1 PM, we still waited about 10 minutes for a table since the restaurant was crowded. However, we didn't mind waiting as the wait staff was bustling around moving orders from the kitchen to the tables quickly so it gave us a chance to check out what was coming out of the kitchen. It all looked so good!!

When we finally sat down, we were ready to order and two of our party started off with haddock chowder. Instead of the super thick chowders that we were expecting, it was a little thinner, but very flavorful according to the chowder eaters. I ordered the clam strip basket after seeing it go by to another table. It was very light and not over battered. Just perfect! My husband ordered the shrimp basket and agreed that his shrimp was lightly battered and flavored. The coleslaw was delicious and not over powering. Another person at our table ordered the open faced turkey sandwich special and wasn't all that impressed with it. Otherwise, we all enjoyed our meals and would definitely return to the Rockland Cafe and Bakery.
