Description: In April 2009, Kelly and Michael Woods transformed Rockland’s Historic Train Station at 4 Union St. into the lively restaurant and bar Trackside Station. Known for its great food and entertaining atmosphere, Trackside Station won 7 “Best of the Best” awards in 2012: Appetizers, Wings, BBQ, Night Spot, Sports Bar and two more awards for their entertaining and friendly Server and Bartender.Trackside Station’s unique space features 24-foot ceilings, a large bar area with 8 different beers on tap along with large flat screen televisions and a 150-inch drop-down projection screen.Head Chef Chaz Doherty joined Trackside in mid-April 2013. Doherty, a Johnson & Wales graduate, brings a great deal of experience to Trackside with a diverse background. Doherty has worked in restaurants for most of his life, learning all facets of the business from front of house to back of house. Customers can enjoy fresh cuisine with house-made items. Doherty cures all of Trackside’s bacon in-house, grinds meat for a custom burger blend as well as bakes their sandwich rolls daily. Trackside offers a variety of seafood including fresh Maine lobster and crab meat, shrimp, scallops, clams and haddock. Other popular items include their house-made gnocchi, pork belly, pulled pork and chicken, fresh veggie plate, salads, pizzas and more.In addition to food, Trackside also features weekend entertainment including DJ music, a Name That Tune game, a Touch Tunes jukebox and live music. Trackside creates a monthly entertainment, food, and drink specials calendar that is available at the restaurant. This information and more is updated frequently on their Facebook page.

A few weekends ago I went with some friends to Trackside. On a Saturday night in Rockland apparently it is one of the fun places to go. My friends sat down for dinner at about 8pm and waited quite a while for their food. When the food came out it looked pretty good presentation was basic but decent portions. All five that ate said it was the worst meals they have ever had at a restaurant. The steak tips were filled with fat and very tough to chew. They were obviously frozen meat, and it seemed like the meat had been thawed frozen and thawed again. Don't bother with their "steak and cheese" either it is just pot roast with american cheese. The owner told them tough luck, after some eye rolling she took one order of steak tips off the bill since they weren't eaten. There was no sense of pride or customer service at this establishment. If you ever go to Trackside stick with beer.

This place microwaves almost everything it seems. My friend ordered chicken wings and one of them was frozen. This is not what you call real food. It may seem like a prime eating spot because of the train and it being in an old train station, but I would avoid it at all costs. The owners are not management material, and the fact that you can see right into the kitchen disgusts me and there's no uniform. How am I supposed to know who works there? My advice: don't go! unless you're into frozen food and terrible service. You would get better customer service at McDonald's.

Stopped in to check out the train rides available and have a beer. The bar server was also one of the owners and was very helpful in giving out information on the local attractions and dining options. They have several local ales on tap and typical bar food menu which we did not partake because we had already eaten. There is a seasonal train running between Rockland and Brunswick from this location and looks like it would be an interesting way to see a bit of Maine.

Lovely interior, nice waitress, terrible food. I can't believe this place will stay in business based on my experience.

We had eaten at the previous restaraunt in this building which was good but this is excellent. It is off the beaten track but worth finding.Just head for the old railway station as it is inside the old station building. The decor is great. The food is good family food with some extra special dishes. Excellent value.
I do feel that they need to promote themselves more, with brochures in motels etc. as it appears, not every one knows they are there.A bit of ectra promotion will put this place firmly on the map.
