Made this hike with 8,6, and 4 year old boys and a wife wearing flip flops. It was more challenging than expected but kids loved it and wife survived even with ridiculous footwear. View from tower at summit is stunning.

This is a wonderful hike. It's just 1.3 miles. First half is an uphill walk; last half challenging scramble over rocks that can be slippery. Payoff is climbing the fire tower for 360-degree view of Rangeley region.

Great view but it takes awhile to get there. Some of the trail includes climbing rocks. FIre tower has an awesome view.

I have ridden snowmobiles to the fire tower lookout for over 30 years each winter. 360 degree panoramic views are unmatched in the area. Summertime hikers can enjoy the same experience.

The hike from the Bald Mountain road trailhead is approximately 1.25 mi to the top. This hike was a 3/10 difficulty for the first half and 7/10 for a groomed trail on the second half.
We had my three children (4,6,9) and two dachshunds and everyone handled the trail just fine. I would strongly recommend a liter of water per person and a snack for kids. There were picnic tables at the top but one was destroyed.

The fire tower is what makes the hike. The views are breathtaking and on a clear day you can see New Hampshire mountains as well. The best view in Rangeley ;)

Happy Hiking!
