Hunter Cove Cabins on Rangeley Lake
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 24, 2011

I used to go to Hunter Cove as a kid, but it's been a while since I've been as an adult. The cabins are just as remembered...they are stocked with everything we needed (from soaps to a toaster to a corkscrew, and more) and there was plenty of room for three of us on a girls weekend.

We spent each morning on the screened-in porch, sitting in Adirondack chairs, drinking coffee and admiring the lake. When the rain set in, we ventured into downtown Rangeley and checked out the bowling alley (rivals anything I'd see in Boston), saw a movie, and did some shopping. Plenty to keep us entertained. And if the chill gets to be too much, our cabin (#5) had a big hot tub - nothing like a dip in bubbling, steamy water to warm us up.

The cabins are dog-friendly; ours even made friends with some of the folks in neighboring cabins!

I'd highly recommend Hunter Cove if you want a weekend (or longer) away. It's calm and relaxing, Chris and Ralph are wonderful hosts, and you feel welcomed from the minute you pull into the driveway. And, you can't beat the scenic drive through Maine in prime leaf-peeping season to get there!

Hunter Cove is an amazing destination for a true "get-away" vacation with all of the amenities and comforts of home. Chris is a great hostess and does her best to make you feel at home while you are visiting. WELL worth the 16 hour drive from Raleigh, North Carolina! Chris and Ralph have small boats and equipment you can use for free. We were able to dock our own 19 foot boat right there at the bottom of the hill in front of our cabin. So convenient! Help yourself to fresh towels/linens as you need them. If the weather should get nasty, they have a full range of satellite tv stations and books to choose from to borrow from their storage house. The view from the dock offers a peaceful place to relax, swim out to the platform, or begin a paddle under the bridge where you'll see lotus flowers, loons, beavers, and ducks. The towns of Rangeley and Oqquossac are quaint New England towns with wonderful shops and restaurants. Rangeley Lake has fishing, boating, sea plane tours, etc. Local fly fishing spots are just a few minutes away. Not to mention the Mingo Springs Golf Course! (We are not golfers, but it was close by!)
If you get a chance to stay there, you will be so glad you did and you'll want to tell your friends about it, too!

Room Tip: Choose your cabin based on your needs. They are all fully stocked. We forgot out lobster pot and t...

The best place in Rangeley to stay!!! We drove up from North Carolina for a 7 day vacation. Being surrounded by nature on all sides.... PERFECT!! There are plenty of things to do for all ages. Hunter Cove is nicely tucked away and private you can literally hear a pin drop. I recommend to couples, families and also for corporate escapes. Lot and lots to do on or off the water. town is close enough to be convenient. We will deffinetly be returning. there is just so much to see and do. We just couldn't fit it into one week!!! Honestly the most peaceful place I have ever stayed. 5 STARS!!

I spent last weekend in one of the Hunter Cove cabins and fell in love with Maine all over again. The seven quaint cabins are clean and well equipped. The view of the lake and Saddleback mountain is gorgeous. The screen in porch was a great place to enjoy my morning coffee while I watched the day dawn. Adirondack chairs by the shore and on the docks are a comfortable place to relax and listen to the loons. The charcoal grill and picnic table in the spacious, shoreside yard made our family dinner at sunset easy and fun.

Scenic drives, golf, boating, swimming, leaf peeping... it's all right there or close by. Downtown Rangeley is nearby, and easy to get to if you need groceries or want to eat at a restaurant. I didn't even miss my computer, though there is wi-fi there and satellite TV. Even my dog loved it. (Yes, they allow well mannered dogs. How cool is that?!)

Whether you want a weekend retreat, a week's vacation, or a family reunion (everyone can have their own cabin), this is a great venue. Owners Chris and Ralph take pride in their establishment. Everything is well maintained, and they strive to ensure that their guests have a pleasant stay without being intrusive.

Hunter Cove in Rangeley Lake place has received rave reviews and now that I've been there, I can see why. I can't wait to go back.

Spacious cabins on a beautiful lake. Watch the sunrise over the mountains. Deer grazing in the yard in the early morning. What more could you ask for? Chris and Ralph are gracious hosts and will go out of their way to accommodate. We have rented their cabins for the weekend for the past few years and each time wished we could have stayed longer. There is WiFi available although signal can get weak at the farthest cabin. Picnic tables, grills, swing set, boats all the amenities you will for a relaxing vacation. Cash or Amex payment only.

Great rustic cottages kept I pristine and very clean and comfortable condition. The setting was gorgeous with cabins set up to take it all in. Chris was very friendly, helpful, and very eager to work with our somewhat out of the ordinary requests. We had a great, relaxing time, and will surely be back!
