My husband and I have been staying a few nights each summer at Oceanside Meadows for eight years. Our most recent stay was in mid August. Each year we have tried a different room either in the captain's house or the farmhouse. Our longest stay was in July 2005 when we booked the entire inn for our daughter's wedding. It's always pleasant to be welcomed back and greeted by the staff or someone in the owner's family. The rooms are all different and each has its charms, naturally I've preferred some over others. After all these are rooms in old homes- they are not meant to be modern hotel rooms- that's the point! The rooms are always immaculate and beds are clean and comfortable. I look forward all year to the special breakfasts at Oceanside. As a vegetarian, it is such a special pleasure to eat these elegant breakfasts of a fruit soup, some sort of bread, and unbelievable entrees. I always take pictures of each course, just so I can remember these special meals. My husband and I both enjoy the sitting rooms, the fires in August, the well kept gardens, and the beach just across the road. Just writing this review brings back such fond memories- I only wish I could visit in spring or fall. But as a teacher, summer for a few more years is my only opportunity to enjoy this special place Downeast.
