We stayed at this Embassy Suites our first night in Maine, after arriving at Portland Jetport. It's not the big, grand "atrium" type Embassy Suites you might have seen elsewhere, not sure if maybe it was a different brand property before. However, the service was as good as any other. Highlights for me were,

- Very close to the terminal, literally walking distance. I did in fact walk back over to pick up our rental car after we checked in.

- Very quiet, even being so close to the airport. I guess PWM is not that busy, and our room faced away from the runway. We actually never heard a single plane.

- Free parking! The downtown hotels we looked at all had rather expensive parking.

- Great evening reception and morning breakfast. The bartenders and servers were all very friendly. As other reviews have mentioned, the omelette chef really knows his craft and is very entertaining to watch!

- Nice indoor pool and hot tub, which our kids made good use of.

All in all, a great stay, would definitely return.

Dear RayJfrom NC,

Thank you so much for your detailed review from your recent stay with us. I'm really pleased to hear that you enjoyed so many of our amenities and had a great time with your family. You are correct, we were not built as an Embassy Suites but offer all of the same great items as our sister hotels.
Thank you again for choosing Embassy Suites while you vacationed in Portland. We look forward to seeing you again the next time you travel to the area.

Best Regards,

Stacy O'Reilly

This hotel was very dirty and smelled very musty. On top of that, the room had a backup generator below that caused significant amounts of diesel fumes to fill the room [the maid had left the window open]. The front desk did put an ionizer in the room while we were site-seeing. This was very disappointing from my previous Embassy Suite stays.

Dear Susan J,
Thank you for staying with us and sharing feedback on our hotel. I appreciate your candor as we look for reviews to provide insight and areas of opportunity for our hotel. Our guest suite comfort and appearance are areas we always focus on and we welcome any additional comments or suggestions you would like to share. The generator does run an automatic test every Friday afternoon for a short time and I'm so sorry that this impacted your stay and experience with us.

The next time you are in the area we would love the opportunity to show you the improved quality stay you deserve.

Best Regards,

All around great experience. Stayed for 7 days with our new baby daughter. Chef Andrew the Breakfast Chef was outstanding and efficient. the managers reception in the evenings was a great was to relax after some sight seeing excursions during the day. Monday night musical trio with Miss Maine 2009 on vocals was a special treat and made us feel especially welcome and comfortable. Entire staff was great. Highly recommended.

We booked this hotel because of a late flight arrival, but it was much more than just a place to sleep. Very comfortable bed, nice accommodations, friendly staff, and a welcoming lobby - it would be an easy place to stay for an extended visit, not just a stop-off for flying in and out. The shuttle to and from the airport was very quick (the hotel is almost next door to the terminal), and the drivers all very friendly (in fact, the nicest shuttle experience we have ever had). Breakfast is a step above many "continental" breakfasts now offered at hotels, and had the nice addition of being able to order personalized omelets. Also, eating utensils were not paper or plastic, but "real" dishes and flatware - something I've grown to appreciate.

We had a pleasant stay, and will stay again when we are in the area.

Room Tip: We had a room facing the airport and had no problem with noise from planes.

Fantastic hotel with very friendly, accomodating staff. We were warmly welcomed and treated as valued guests throughout our stay. Santina at the front desk has excellent customer service skills and is very friendly, helpful, and professional. She ensured we had a room overlooking the Jetport runway which was great fun for the kids to watch. Chris in the lounge is a great mixologist providing the finest dinner service, great drink suggestions and follows through wonderful beverages, and stimulating conversation. Great steaks and dinner specials.
The evening manager's reception is lovely with live music on Mondays. Enjoy the atmosphere next to the fireplace or waterfall.

Embassy offers full hot breakfast and you must try Andrew's omelettes. He has mastered his craft and serves absolutely perfect omelettes every time. The housekeeping staff are quiet and our room was always immaculate and fresh when we returned at the end of the day. The pool was clear and warm, the hottub hot and bubbly. There is also a sauna perfect for soothing your tired muscles at the end of the day. We really enjoyed the bright open feel of this Embassy hotel, most of them are very dark inside. This hotel has a grand, tasteful cheer with spacious, well appointed rooms. We extended our trip based upon this hotel alone. It is also close to the quaint town of Wells-Ogunquit and outlet shopping in Kittery.

This property is one to add to your favorites list!

Room Tip: Corner suites are grand and spacious.
