“Not bad but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2007

The Embassy is great because the people are nice, helpful, and willing to accomdate your needs. I love having 2 rooms, it makes longer stays much more tolerable and separates your sleeping area from the living area. The microwave and fridge are musts if you will be staying for more than 1-2 nights. The breakfast is great and the cocktail hour is certainly a fantastic perk. Although it is located next to the airport, you can't hear any of the noise, and the hotel itself is off the beaten path...not in Old Port or on the main drag in S. Portland by the Maine Mall.

However, I was booked to stay there for about a week, and I couldn't handle the decor. This place needs a major renovation. I know it's caddy to be so high maintenance, but the aqua-pink combination was just too much. I'm on the road for weeks on end, and feeling comfortable in my room is very important to me. Also, the couch was falling apart, and the seat cushions would not stay put. The beds were not uber comfy, thus, the mattresses should be grouped in with the renovations. I'll admit that I had a great room at the end of the hall, but there is no other access to it other than the elevator. It was a long walk whenever I had to go anywhere.

This place is great for a night or two. There is nothing wrong with it - it's not dirty, dingy, or untolerable - but if you will be in town for an extended period of time, you may want to reconsider.

Thankfully the majority of our time in the room was spent with our eyes closed, as it was the pinkest (as in color) room I had ever seen in a hotel. The wallpaper, wallpaper boarders, door trim, and curtains were all pink! Add all the brass lamps and it was like stepping back into the 70's.

However, the staff was exceptional and we were not disturbed in the least by the airport immediately outside the window.

We would stay there again, after confirming that the hotel had been brought up to the modern Hilton standards.

After a long overnight flight from Seattle, this hotel was the perfect place. They let us check in early since our two room suite was ready ahead of time. We ate both lunch and dinner in the restaurant. The free happy hour with hors-dourves was excellent and the breakfast buffet and cook to order breakfast was just what we need to start the day. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again.

We had stayed at this Embassy Suites in 1999 and had so enjoyed the Manager's Cocktail Hour (or whatever it's called) and breakfast. Sometimes Embassy Suites are hit and miss in this department. Unfortunately we missed Manager's Reception as our plane was late, but the breakfast was super. They had a waitperson who was fantastic and really shined.

The rooms are in need of a bit of updating. Carpet and curtains are showing a bit of wear. Bath also needs updating, a bit scrungy.

Location is perfect, convenient. Nice place for family as you have 2 rooms, typical Embassy Suites.

Embassy suites seems to be a good value for what you get. A spacious suite with pull out sofa in front room. Microwave, mini fridge and many other convienient amenities. Room service as well as a full complimentary buffet breakfast in a resturant setting. This is more than bagels and danish. This consisted of eggs, hash browns, sweets and savorys meats, waffles and the choice of cereals and fruit. several choices of fruit juice and hot coffee and teas. There were complimentary news papers available in the comfortably furnished public areas on each floor. This location is at a quite jetport five minutes from downtown, waterfront and major brand shopping plaza's.
