“Nice rebranding”

run down and little to no arts. The occasional gallery, but mostly buildings in need of renovations and lots of homeless.

“Portland Arts District-more local feel”
Reviewed October 7, 2011

My husband and I had lunch in the Portland Arts District after visiting the Old Port. There are definitely fewer tourists and a more neighborhood/office worker crowd in this area along Congress Street near Monument Square. We had a leisurely lunch upstairs at the Public Market House (a co-op of six small vendors in a renovated building). Outside in the square, a small group of twenty-somethings sat in a circle listening to a guy with his shirt off strumming a banjo. It's a more alternative, progressive crowd, but the neighborhood had a friendly, local feel. The Wadsworth-Longfellow House, Maine Historical Society museum, and Portland Art Museum are located nearby.

“Art Walk Free”
Reviewed August 31, 2011

They have a great event called First Friday on the First Friday of every month that you get into the Portland Museum for free and you can visit all the galleries and they serve food and wine. It is a great way to spend a Friday night and all for Free. Excellent
