I stayed at the Morrill Mansion for 2 nights in September 2008. Our flight arrival time was at noon, but David welcomed us to go ahead and check-in early at no extra charge. His attention to detail was excellent (even the sheets smelled good!) and his breakfasts were filling and elegant (fresh Maine blueberry muffins, individual egg quiches, pastries, fruit, and more). The suggestions David made for lunch and dinner were outstanding and we never had a bad meal during our stay in Portland. David was more than willing to answer any questions about the area and he also gives you your privacy. We stayed in a top floor bedroom, and the bed was extremely comfortable (and quiet). Everything was spotless and the bathroom was spacious. I peeked into several of the other bedrooms as they were being cleaned, and they were all cozy and tastefully decorated. The B&B is located about a 15 minute walk from the Old Port area, and I always felt safe. A cab ride is about $7 dollars if you'd rather not walk. Overall, this B&B was wonderful and we will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Morrill Mansion for 4 nights during the week before Labor Day, on our first-ever trip to Portland. We chose this B & B based on TripAdvisor reviews, and were quite pleased. Our room (the McGuire Room/3rd floor) and its private bathroom (shower/no tub) were lovely, CLEAN, and comfortable. Innkeeper David Parker was an excellent host: welcoming, accessible, helpful, and "friendly-but-not-smothering". Self-serve breakfasts were not wildly varied day-to-day, but offered plenty of basic choices (fresh melon & grapefruit, breads to toast, cereals, yogurt, muffins, pastries) and individual hot items (ramekins of fruit crisp; egg/cheese/veggie casserole) every day. Breakfast seating is at tables for 2 or 4; guests can socialize or not as they wish. The classical music playing unobtrusively in the breakfast room was a soothing and welcome element.

Decor at this property does not attempt a period-museum look; it is a mix that is eclectic without being jarring. We peeked into open, unoccupied rooms & all were handsomely furnished - not "Victorian-frilly", but with a nice mix of vintage-look & more contemporary pieces, styles, & colors. All areas that we saw felt very clean and well-maintained.

We found the location to be fine, especially since we were lucky enough to have near-perfect weather during our visit. Walking to the Old Port waterfront took about 20 minutes at a brisk pace. The immediate neighborhood is more funky/less commercially picturesque than the Old Port central area, but it suited us just fine - nights were quiet, & all that walking felt healthy!

Portland has much more to offer than we were able to experience on our first visit - we hope to return and would definitely stay at the Morrill Mansion again.

We spent two nights at the Morrill Mansion on August 17-18 and fell in love with this B&B. From the moment we entered the place we found it to be a clean and comfortable establishment. David, the Innkeeper is very gracious. After performing the usual paperwork, he escorted us up to our room-The Morrill Suite and showed us all of the amenities of the room. David also showed us the 2nd floor living room (great snacks!) and informed us of the breakfast hours, as well as information of restaurants in the area.

The room is done in beautiful shades of red and gold. The windows open (yes!) as well as having air conditioning. The second room is a comfortable sitting room with a breakfast nook style table and chairs, set up table, and very comfortable sleeper sofa couch. Both the bedroom and sitting room have adjustable ceiling fans.

Breakfast was served from 8 AM until 10 AM each day. The food was hot fresh and delicious.

Overall Morrill Mansion is a wonderful place to stay. We’ve already booked our return trip!

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. The inn is gorgeous! Only stayed one night (wish our stay could have been longer) in the Vaughn room. The room was beautiful and spacious. The bathroom was gorgeous with a large shower. Loved all the historic details of the inn and how it had been updated without losing any of the charm. The innkeeper was friendly and professional. Breakfast was set up buffet style with many selections such as fresh fruit, bagels, custards, hot egg dishes, muffins, scones etc...I'm sure I'm leaving things out. The lobster and egg dish I had was delicious. My husband had the spinach and egg and he loved his as well. There are also snacks and refreshments left in the common room at all times. We tried the chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing and they were great. Chocolates are left in the room and our room also had a mini fridge in it which was very convenient. The bed was super comfortable with wonderful linens and comfy pillows on it. The towels even smelled extra good--loved whatever detergent they're
using! :) There were also lots of maps, brochures and restaurant recommendations in the front entryway which were very helpful.
I can't say enough good things about this place and we would stay there again. We booked here after reading all the praise on Tripadvisor and it certainly lived up to all the praise!
