We have been here numerous times for brunch after church on Sundays. IT IS AMAZING food. everything that we have had .........superb. The pancakes are to die for. My husband HAS TO HAVE ONE no matter what his entree. The service is great as well. Very friendly waiters/waitresses! You do Not want to miss this place.

Hadn't eaten at Caiola's in years, but had a terrific dinner there with friends recently. Cozy, neighborhood restaurant atmosphere, attentive service, great food (I had the eggplant parmesan, which was superb; others raved about the meatloaf), interesting and reasonably priced wine list...could not have asked for anything more. Parking in Portland's West End is a bit challenging but that was a minor inconvenience. Caiola's should be on anyone's short list of fine Portland restaurants.

Make a reservation for brunch because this place is popular! We luckily had a reservation and they were kind enough to sit us when we arrived early with only half out party there...while we were waiting we had some coffee (very strong) and an amazingly light and moist lemon ricotta coffee cake with cardamom - topped with a bit of honey butter, it was amazing! We had all looked at the menu online before and then completely changed our minds once we saw the specials...so many possibilities - although they were out of several of them by the time we were ordering just before noon. We ended up trying the meatloaf sandwich (perfectly sized and really rich), the "birds nest" eggs, sausage gravy and roasted sweet potatoes and the veggie benedict on toast instead of english muffins, we all cleaned our plates. The Bloody Mary was nice, not too spicy and the "small" mimosa was plenty big! The menu as a whole is very diverse with great options for all types. The dining room (we ate in the back half - traveling through the kitchen - a bit odd) was charming but a little noisy. Service was fine but nothing special.

We arrived in West End Portland, hungry and a bit cranky after a long drive from the Philadelphia region. Caiola's was recommended by our Innkeeper and was located within walking distance. It was a "keeper" with a pleasant tavern atmosphere and visibly popular among the local residents. We enjoyed a series of salads and diverse small plates that were delightful and freshly prepared by a talented kitchen. Complementing our meal was an interesting wine list with reasonable price points.

We left satisfied and in proper mood to enjoy our Maine vacation.
