“Excellent, non-thrilling fare”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

I've eaten here many times over the past few years. Like many other restaurants in Portland, the Front Room offers solid fare but don't expect to be blown away by originality. Some items, such as the fish chowder, are simply average but overall the menu is very satisfying.

The place is very cozy, has a very comfortable bar (it's usually where I eat) and is not at all pretentious. If you want a decent bite but don't want to think too hard, this is a great spot.

“Great Neighborhood Spot”
Reviewed June 14, 2013

Interesting menu. Excellent blueberry pancakes and bacon. Emphasis on local ingredients, organic, and healthy. Wish I had gone for lunch as the bbq sounded amazing!

“Consider going somewhere else...”
Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

With all the great restaurants in Portland, there are few reasons to go here! Our waitress was great. But the food is nothing special...and a little on the greasy side. We could not eat our side of gnocchi swimming in oil. We left smelling like fries and had spent quite a bit of money for what we got...

“Awesome spot”
Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

Met up with friends. It was my first visit. Great service from Asher the bartender. I enjoyed the banter between the regulars (he knew everyone by name) and him! I had the onion soup - it was the best I have had in a very long time! I will be back!!!

“Great Neighborhood Restaurant”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

This is our second time at the Front Room. I love the neighborhood feel and the creativity of the menu. It's also fun seeing the small open kitchen and only two people creating all this great food! And I was surprised at the great prices for happy hour at the bar! There were four of us for dinner and we all finished our plates! The duck was cooked perfectly, I tried the Artic Char which was one of the specials and it was delicious. The staff is knowledgeable and very good at what they do. All and all we enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back!
