Just spent a few days in Portland. Took our vegetarian friend to DuckFat. Luckily, not everything is fried in duck fat. The fries were nice and hot and crunchy. The truffle ketchup was good, but I wouldn't say it went with the fries. The soups were good, and the sandwiches were nice sized. A little expensive for a regular lunch, but a must try if you're in the area. A little hard to find for out of towners.

We hadn't been in a couple of years but when we were in town recently we gave this spot another try. Glad we did. The Greek salad was excellent and hit the spot. The fries are very addictive. We would absolutely go back for lunch. The milkshakes sounded great though after the fries . . . we just couldn't.

The french fries were...perfection...no way better to describe it, really. We had ours with the malt vinegar mayo, yum! Our paninis were decent, but we went there to try the fries, and were not disappointed! It is a little small, but we liked that about the place, it gives the shop character that you just can't find at a behemoth restaurant like a lot of chains.

Perfect paninis and the french fries are to die for. Also a homemade shake you can't miss. Tiny little hole in the wall and can be cold in the winter with the door opening!

Now Imagine there was a restaurant named "Beef Lard". Does that sound appealing? Not so much. So why is that some people enjoy eating stuff particularly fried in duck fat. It is beyond me. The food is decent but the whole deal is that most of the food is fried in duck fat, a major turn off . Granted this restaurant is in the old port where forty somethings wearing fanny packs can stumble in for a nice dose of artery clogging goodness. Quack Quack Yum.
