Had to write a review based on recent ones I have read...The MUSIC - ear shattering. Chuckled when I read a review complaining about mussels not opened. This place use to have outstanding mussels when the 20 something year olds in the kitchen payed attention. Last time we ordered the mussels app, at least 30% weren't opened. How can a restaurant serve something like this ? Yes the portions are large. But if the food is inedible, what difference does it make? Unfortunately, this place is continuing it's downhill slide

Family-owned, wonderful home-made pastas, sauces, the BEST and BIGGEST meatball ever! Fresh, fragrant, silky alfredo, great salads, awesome specials. The bread was the only disappointment - first, cold, then replaced with warm, but flat and flavorless, even with the beautiful olive oil and cheese for dipping. Hot crusty bread or rolls would elevate to 5!!!

The portions were huge. We split the haddock and each got a salad and a side of pasta. The pasta would have been enuf of a meal for me! They did put the largest amount of blue cheese dressing on each salad. Way too much. I forgot to ask for it on the side. A great little neighborhood restaurant. And we'll go again when near the Amtrak. I think things were a little rushed as the restaurant closed at 9 pm and we arrived at 8 pm

On our occasional trips to Portland during the mid-day hours, we often to to Espo's for lunch. The food quality is always excellent. i like the fact that they now serve whole grain pasta and many of their dishes offer the option to be served over spinach rather than pasta. So if you are watching your carbs for some reason, this is a good, healthy choice.

The decor is nothing special, but the food makes up for it! Wonderful lunch, quickly served and huge portions. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and was highly impressed. I will be back.
