Description: Steve and Michelle Corry, the proprietors of Five Fifty-Five, arrived in Portland armed with a passionate vision and extensive experience in the restaurant industry. Steve began his culinary career as a brew master at several breweries in Northern California. In 1999, he attended the New England Culinary Institute in Burlington Vermont. After graduating in 2001, he returned to California to work at Domaine Chandon in Napa Valley. A graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Michelle Corry has worked at numerous prestigious establishments, including the French Laundry in Napa. Together, they have envisioned a dining experience that would combine a comfortable atmosphere, professional service, and fresh, simple, and delicious food sourced locally. Steve and Michelle Corry would like to welcome you to their first collaborative, Five Fifty-Five.

The restaurant was busy on Memorial Day weekend, but it had a fun, unhurried feel. The food was very good, the drink and wine selections were interesting, and the service provided just the right mix of attentiveness and information.

We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu. Service was friendly and efficient. Out waiter explained everything and answered all our questions. A 10 pm reservation insured that the dining room was quiet and there was not a lot of hustle and bustle.
Good relaxed atmosphere for some very good food.
This as our third time at 555. It is one of the best restaurants in Portland.

We came here on recommendation of our hotel concierge and were not disappointed. The service was excellent and attentive and the five course tasting menu with wine was very good. The lemon butter with the bread was so good it's worth a mention. The only slight quibble is that if you are on the second floor above the kitchen, the fumes can go for your eyes but apart from that it was an excellent meal.

Our first time here and we will not be back. The food was very good, but the choices very limited.
The main problem was that it was SO noisy. It has a 2 storey open dining room with no acoustic baffling. We were with friends and could not hear each other or the waitress. It didn't help that there was another group there who were literally shouting at each other throughout the meal.

We went to Five Fifty Five based on separate recommendations from two Portland locals. I had the 7 course chef's tasting menu, and my wife chose her own 5 course menu. The quality, freshness and creativity of the meal was up there with the finest restaurants I've ever eaten at, most of which cost far more. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the whole restaurant had a great casual elegance as well. I would very happily eat there again.
