“Lots of hits and looking forward to a return visit”

We wandered in on the 22nd without a reservation for dinner before 5 and so glad we did. The interior is a total wow and both floors have a really nice feel to them. We sat on the Custom House Wharf side with Ben as our server. He did an excellent job throughout our meal and it did not go un-noticed how well the staff works together here to take care of diners. We started with the Spicy Shrimp and Seafood Salad. The shrimp rocked and I loved the heat. The seafood salad for my palate could have used a little more acid, but it was an eye pleaser. We added in a popover with house-made blueberry jam…a wow on both! Our entrees were the finnan haddie and the prime rib sandwich. The finnan haddie was good, but we wished it had larger pieces of fish and less mashed potato. The prime rib sandwich was a total winner all the way around! Kudos to Harding and his crew here!! A well thought out and vast menu that would satisfy anyone and such a beautiful space. We will certainly be back and thank you for also providing free off-street parking.

“Revived and superb!”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

We enjoyed the salty, basic atmosphere of Boone's back in the 1980s. It was a basic, solid good seafood place. It closed sometime after 2000 and remained so for six years. In August of 2013, it reopened under new management, and this was our first visit since then. We found it quite well-decorated and clean, a real upgrade from the original, and the menu has expanded dramatically. It is now an upscale, larger, and very attractive place. We found the food creative and the service top-notch. A bit more expensive than the old Boone's, but well worth it! We can't wait to come back in warmer weather and enjoy the views from either the upper or wharf-level decks of Portland's busy working waterfront!

“Wonderful new Portland spot on the water to boot!”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

On out first visit we sat in the upstairs bar.
Great specialty vodka drinks and great wine by the glass.
What fun to watch the open kitchen in front of us.
We usually do raw oysters but tried their app portion of fried oysters.
Best we have ever had.
Lightly breaded, lightly fried.
Absolutely delicious.
Split soup and a salad.
Cannot wait to return often

“Left hungry and broke”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

I ordered the baked stuffed haddock for $24.00, came with no sides, was very small and overcooked. I ordered a couple popovers to fill myself up (those were good) wait staff did nothing for me when I told them I was disappointed, throw me a bone people!

“First time - very good but pricey”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

It was a cold night when we visited, so the wood fire inside made it very cozy and inviting. Good atmosphere. We visited on a weekday night, so it probably gets crowded weekends. The bar looked great. Our server was attentive and suggested ideas when we asked (seemed to know the food!). The oysters were very good and the server carefully explained the order of the ones we ordered on the plate so we knew which was which. The food was delicious. My steak was much larger than I was expecting and the presentation was done very well. One little thing - we left smelling like wood smoke. Those with sensitivity to smoke may want to use caution - esp. in winter. Another downside was that the bathroom were freezing but it was a very cold evening.
