When a foodie friend suggests a restaurant you take it seriously. We were going to be in Portland for 2 nights so went to Street & Company on a recommendation. Using OpenTable meant we got a 9P reservation - close to kitchen closing. Our delightful server did not rush us - only advised we needed to get our choices in the chef's line. We were not rushed and had wonderful oysters, salads and fish - the sole Francaise was perfect as was the simply grilled halibut. Wine list gives wonderful options but you need to know what you want to pair with your meal. Love Portland - but the food experience at this restaurant made it a great visit

This is a noisy place and you will have to wait. Make reservations and arrive at your designated time. What makes this a continuing success is that Street & Co. has the knack of making simple dishes taste great. If you can, get a dish which is prepared in one of their iron skillets, and delivered sizzling to the table. Simple seafood, well prepared is what Street and Co does.

Second stop after Kennebunkport - we found the restaurant to be in the height of crazy summer business, more interested in burn and churn of clients and getting the most $'s.

Service was very poor, unattentive waiter - had no clue, and more importantly no interest in helpoing us choose a wine. We are not experts, but like decent wine and are very open to spending $50 on a bottle. We ended up just doing by the glass as could not trust input. Food was OK, some good elements, but presentation was poor and rushed....my entree had obviously 'moved' since being plated and had streaks across the sides of the plate from food being moved around......too impersonal, too rushed, too expensive for the overall quality....

We have had wonderful and horrible meals here - probably won't be back. I have had two tuna dishes that were inventive and delicious - one had ground tuna in the pasta sauce. My wife has had two very disappointing (actually, one was horrible). She ordered Sole Francaise - it came swamped in oil - literally the fish was sitting in a pan of oil - yecch.

This place has a great rep - but there are so many other places to eat that are fantastic. If you want REAL seafood without the hype - go to Jay's.

With the recent negative TA reviews, our group was hesitant to follow a couple of recommendations from locals. The before meal experience was a tad bit pie in the face due to the staff important oster bar staff, but once we sat at the table our server could not have been better. From the bread to the desert, the meal started off strong and continued to get better and better. The halibut, seafood stew, and swordfish meals experienced by our group was wonderful in every way. I give this restaurant a big thumbs up and will return when I revisit the area.
