The chowder here was the best we had during the trip. The daily specials are the way to go. Get chowder with the special. The lobster roll was OK but I had better at J's Oyster house. Service was very good.

I enjoyed the single lobster dinner special for $19.95, which included a lobster, corn on the cob & French fries. The lobster was great. French fries were lightly fried & very good. (Didn't try the corn on the cob - I'm a corn on the cob snob. It's gotta be picked & served on the same day & very small, juicy kernels.) Husband had Seafood Chowder with the Lobster dinner. Both were delicious. Service was friendly & good. Ate on their deck. Not much of a view, except of the street parked full of cars & the neighboring restaurant. If you looked hard enough, you could see a couple boats on the water.

We weren't here that long and only got the chowder so this review is limited in scope. We got the clam chowder and the seafood chowder. This was the only chowder we had in Maine and so not sure if it was the best or not but it was very savory. The seafood chowder was jam packed with seafood. The seafood chowder had everything, shrimp, haddock, clams. Better to just go with the seafood chowder if you like seafood. Also the waitress was very friendly here. I admire her attitude even though it was pretty late in the evening.

Friends recommended this place in the event we were to find ourselves in Portland. So we went in for lunch. There was a short line waiting for a table on the deck and once seated we were anxious to try to the Chowder. So we ordered, chowder and lobster rolls. The chowder tasted great but severely lacked clams. As others have pointed out the potatoes outnumbered the clams by a wide margin. It was thick and tasty though. The lobster rolls were excellent with a decent amount of lobster meat on a fresh buttered bun. So all in all, we have had better chowder and more abundant lobster rolls but it was good never-the-less. Just not outstanding. One note, we came for lunch and the deck was in the shade (sun blocked by the building) so it was not sunny and somewhat cool in the shade.
