“Local atmosphere”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

Just keep in mind that this place is a dive. It's a restaurant on a dock in what seems to be a double wide. On a nice day, outside seating is nicer if you can get a table. All the locals seem to love it. It's a no frills place that you can get some great food at. Prices are not bad, seem a little below most of the restaurants on the waterfront. We had the large bucket of steamed clams, seafood casserole and a lobster roll. Pretty good, but not spectacular. Entrees are really simple, and they don't allow substitutions. Right next next to the parking lot to Damillos floating restaurant.

“Dockside Dining - Fresh Catch”
Reviewed August 12, 2014

J's Oyster is where the locals go for cool drinks (including good local brew) and fresh seafood. The oysters couldn't be any fresher - delicious. Enjoy the dockside dining for an unforgettable evening in Portland, Maine.

“dockside dinning”
Reviewed August 11, 2014 via mobile

Went on a Thursday night, very crowded city. chose this restaurant close to water to eat and look at boats. Waited a our half hour, no problem but ate inside instead of out. Very crowded, noisy, but waitress was friendly and very attentive. Food was very very good and reasonable.

“Enjoyed our lunch”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

We just finished a visit to Maine and had lunch at J's. I think their lobster roll is the best one around - better portion for a little less than down the coast. It's a crusty old joint but I suppose that's part of the appeal. Staff was polite although not very attentive. I would go back again for that lobster roll!
