“Can't say enough”
Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

The smoke and bbq smell drew us in, as we weren't looking to eat at the time. Very comfortable setting, very friendly and accommodating staff, great local brews on tap and the food was great. Price was very acceptable

“Great food made with great ingredients”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Buck's is not your normal BBG restaurant. Everything is made from scratch and made in-house. My husband had the dry rub baby back ribs. They were fabulous. No drippy BBQ sauce, just slow cooked meat with a lot of flavor. I enjoyed the gumbo. It had a good bite.
The prices are excellent. This is worth the visit.

“Average at best”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Good local draft beer and ambience are the two best parts of the dinner.

Baby back ribs were very dry. Pastrami sandwich was very greasy. Potato salad very bland. Wedge potatoes were likely frozen issue. Cole slaw was good. Loose pulled pork was moist, albeit lacking in sauce and flavour.

Kitchen looked spotless at 9:30pm or so when we rolled in to what was an almost empty restaurant. I wonder if they only reheat meals at this hour versus cooking from scratch.

Overall, not the best place for BBQ. Slim pickings for Portland restaurants downtown on a Sunday night, so we went to this place by default and would probably not be back.

“Tickle your taste buds@”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

Rustic setting and different decor, but not easiest seating for those with handicaps affecting flexibility, such as trying to navigate the picnic tables and booths. But, the great menu for even the pickiest of eaters, makes it worthwhile. Huge servings with quite a selection of toppings and spices on sandwiches, so no one leaves hungry. Family members each ordered something different, and all of it was was extremely tasty. Even had difficulty saving a bite for the family pet anxiously waiting for our return and promised surprise. Prices a tad high, but then this is a tourism area, so not outrageous. Just be hungry, so that you don't waste a bite!

“Best BBQ in Maine”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

Before eating at Buck's, I wasn't sure if I even liked BBQ. I can now say I LOVE BBQ and would choose to eat/drink at Buck's more than many other places in the Old Port. The atmosphere is great and the food is excellent....it never takes long AT ALL! The Brazilian short rib sandwich, Beef Bahn Mi and Pastrami Sandwich are all amazing!
