Owner description: Portland Fire Engine Co. offering narrated sightseeing tours of Portland Maine aboard a Vintage Fire Engine. We explore the peninsula of Portland and its many lighthouses and forts as well as the amazing architectural buildings hidden inside of the cobble stoned streets that make up our wonderful city. The tour is a great way of reliving Portland’s past, present and future. The viewing area high up on the Fire Engine gives amazing views of Casco Bay as well as fantastic opportunities for photographs. We are a highly rated tour operator in Portland so please check out some of our 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor below. The sightseeing tours are approximately 50 minutes in length and are fully narrated with a very knowledgeable guide displaying high resolution photographs from the Maine Historical Society through our on-board multimedia system which includes a large flat LED TV. We begin and end our tours in the heart of the Old Port which is a great way to discover all that our magical city has to offer. This area of the city is great for sightseeing tours as well as the world famous shopping and the amazing restaurants, pubs and shopping. Informative and Fun for All Ages Sightseeing Tours begin and end at 180 Commercial St. (Located in front of Portland Lobster Co.)

The informational tour we paid 30.00 for was a joke. The speakers went out 5 minutes into the tour which was 50 minutes. The narrator told more personal family history about his life growing up in Portland than useful Portland history. He also gave a run down off this work history and all odd jobs he'd had before.

While wondering if we should book this tour, we were approached by our narrator, who was trying to fill the last two seats. After we decided to go ahead, we were rushed onto the engine as the tour was ready to leave. As I turned around, I saw two gentlemen "high five" and it felt very sneaky.

As Portland's only multimedia tour, our goal is 100% customer satisfaction. We do apologize for the speaker malfunction that you experienced on your tour and it has since been repaired. Our guides do provide a 50 minute tour that is rich in Portland's history. They have had experience working for other businesses in Portland. We are lucky to have them share their insiders view and knowledge of the city. The "high-five" that you had seen was our way of expressing how happy and thankful we are to have folks excited to take our tour. It's been a great summer and we feel that the fire truck is the best way to see Portland in under an hour and learn lots of Portland's history in a 50 minute tour :)

Went on the tour with my husband and two kids (5&11). We all had a great time. The guide was enthusiastic and had a great way of telling stories. It's a great way to see some of Portland. My kids loved getting fire hats to keep at the end.

We noticed the fire truck rolling down the street. And being a Firefighter I my curiosity was caught. We paid our tickets and climbed aboard the former hose-bed water tank area of the truck (which by the way is illegal to ride in on an operating fire truck) that in it's self was a treat for a Firefighter. The guide was a very knowledgeable local who answered all questions in a friendly manor like we had been friends for years. Driver offered smooth ride.Would highly recommend this to all, Firefighter or not. Great way to tour the city. P.S. just like the guide said the Fire Museum was closed (you know Firefighter schedules) Thank you to the crew for a wonderful experience. Leo.

The tour guide, Pete, had a real grasp of the area. My wife,10 year old son, 7 year old son and myself all enjoyed this tour on the truck that looks like a fire engine. If you want a nice 50 to 60 minute tour that gives you a quick lesson on Portland history this is for you. Family friendly fun!

The man who owns this tour is a local guy and very kind. A different man who does the tour is passionate about the history of Portland and made this tour very interesting. Great for the whole family!
