Was delicious! My partner had coffee Heath bar and both were exceptional. The ice cream was homemade with fresh ingredients. I cream lovers were very happy.

After a fantastic dinner, we ventured to Captain Sam Ice Cream. I had coffee Heath, my coworker had coconut. I sampled salted caramel and all was good. She ( my coworker) had been before and recommended it. A great finishing touch.

This ice cream shop is a good place to stop for a quick treat. They have about 20 plus varieties of ice cream flavors that they claim to make themselves. They also claim to be the only ice cream place in Old Port to make their own ice cream. I am not sure if that is accurate but the ice cream was very good. The inside is quite small so it definitely a grab and go kind of place. One thing that we did not care for was the wooden spoons that they give out with ice cream cups. It is more of a personal preference but the wooden spoons seemed to detract from the ice cream in a way. Good place to stop and I think if we ever get the chance to go back we will try their frozen lemonade because it sounded good.

Such a creative listing.... Kentucky derby and blueberry and pomegranate sorbet! Brought our two girls ... 4 and 8. They voted it the best they have had. The chocolate came out fresh while we were there. Not sure why but they don't offer sprinkles or jimmies. Turned out we were ok ... But just as an fyi. Very clean and fresh decor....

The red-eye from the West Coast got us into Boston at 5:30 am. We stopped in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for breakfast including lots of coffee. By the time we were ready to eat again, a lobster roll just wasn't the ticket. Fortunately for us, ice cream was!

We were walking along Commercial Street, trying to kill time before we could check into our hotel. The pirate sign in front of Captain Sam's called us in. Little did we know that their ice cream is made right there and includes all kinds of local ingredients like the honey, blueberries and whatever else the owner might concoct.

As our group of five slurped down our various flavors, the owner approached us introducing himself. He is also the property owner and admitted it was kind of a risk to rent from himself but said he believed in his product and thought he could beat the local competition, two gelato shops up on Fore Street. He had only been open six weeks when we stopped by. He told us he was still experimenting with various flavors. As far as we were concerned, he had already hit a couple of home runs.

His location is excellent. He is at the corner of Commercial and Silver Street, just a stone's throw from DeMillio's Floating Restaurant. A nice, friendly place offering up treats from your youth when every town had an ice cream stand that only opened during the summer, and every flavor was exquisite.
