If you stay in one of the water front rooms you get a spectacular view of the sun rise. As soon as you arrive you can leave the car and never need it again until you leave. Everything is within a short walk - a wonderful bakery, fabulous pubs, Flatbread pizza company, Fores St restaurant (book in advance), shopping and a great harbor walk. The pool is fun for the kids to splash around in and burn off some energy. The beds and pillows are so comfortable and clean. This is one of the most relaxing weekend breaks we do. If you want a great beach go to Cape Elizabeth (15 minute drive), Crescent Beach - parking may be tricky at certain times of year.

Room Tip: Book one of the corner suites (off season)

This hotel is newly renovated and tastefully done. They have a friendly and efficient staff who are helpful. Linens were new and the room was very clean. But we had a terrible , over powering chemical -perfume smell in the carpet that made it hard to sleep and the smell was on our clothes and we also had headaches from it. We did call the front desk and complained about the smell and they said it was probably just a carpet cleaner. They would send housekeeping up but we decided not to have them come for fear that would put another chemical down. We like to come to Portland but stay usually stay at the Hampton Inn down the street . We like this location and the staff but would not want to stay in a room like that again. Too bad because everything else was so nice.

I stay at this hotel for business while in Maine. I really enjoy staying here. It's right near the water & walking distance to so many excellent restaurants. During certain times of year, the price is quite high, but most of the time it is worth the price!

We love the pool, breakfast and location of this place. Great shopping and waterfront within walking distance. Parking is expensive but it is everywhere in downtown. Have never had a bad room and we stay several times a year.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is in a great location, a short walk to shops and restaurants.

The rooms were clean, nicely decorated and spacious. The only thing I didn't like is the bed. I am just not a fan of the Hilton Garden Inn beds-- I know a lot of people think that they are great, but I never seem to sleep well in their beds. The bed is really the only reason I don't give this hotel 5 stars.

The staff was friendly and gave us some great recommendations.

We had their breakfast buffet and it was good, but really just your typical hotel breakfast.
