We stayed at the Hilton Garden Downtown hotel in Mid September. First the price 260.00 a night with a 2 night minimum which included a view of the brick wall of the adjacent building. Ran out of towels the first night, no toilet paper the second night. Hotel staff didn't speak English. They charged all 3 of us couples in the party for parking and none of us used their 15.00 a day parking service. Food is okay (just okay for the price). Bar prices are expensive. Overall the whole stay left us with a feeling of unpleasantness.

Room Tip: Look at other hotels away from this one. I wish we had stayed at one of the airport hotels and just grabbed a cab. Very poor experience. How poor could it be??? I don't even write reviews and I couldn't wait to get on the web once we arrived home. That's how bad.

We had booked a non smoking room at Holiday Inn, but when we arrived, there was no non smoking room and they were sold out (as was the entire town due to weddings and adult weekenders). Booking.Com's Caleb was amazing and connected me to Abby at the Hilton Garden Inn who gave us her last room.
Hilton Garden Inn was better located; near the water and old town. Our room 424 had a beautiful water/sunrise view! It also had a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave and was clean. I heard no other room noise, even though the hotel was full. The hotel lobby provides Starbucks coffee, teas and cookies. The restaurant Fore Street is next door as is a yummie looking bakery.

My husband and I stay here whenever we are in Portland. The location is perfect - close to the water and many great restaurants and bars. Its easy to walk everywhere. Its the little things that I like though - the showercap, fridge and bathroom mirrors.Small amenities that make a difference. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is enjoyable.

You would think that you would get first class treatment when you are in town for a wedding and shelling out nearly $300 a night. Unfortunately, the Hilton garden Inn came up short. They may have been under staffed but, if not, the staff didn't seem to have a clue what was going on. They were nice enough to pay for our cab from the airport since the hotel shuttle left without us. However, we were almost late for our departure flight because the shuttle driver was also working as a valet and screwed up our departure time even though we were sitting in the shuttle for about 10 mins. The quality of my room was poor with broken tile all over the bathroom and an impossible to use A/C unit. Control was for someone's home so the timing and temps were all set and it took me two days to override.

The location was perfect but with 22 other hotels within a mile I imagine there are better places to stay.

Room Tip: Water view is the worth the extra price.

We stayed the night to break up our trip with our 2 cats. The people at the desk could not have been nicer. The hotel is very well kept up and we had a very nice large comfortable room. We were also given a coupon for a delicious breakfast which did not come with our room, but that the desk gave us. There are fresh cookies put out in the afternoon and hot fresh coffee too. It is in a great location right on the waterfront near in the old port area. We highly recommend staying there while in Portland.
