Lovely inn, easy 10 min walk to shops and restaurants in Portland, while providing quiet surroundings in an upscale residential neighborhood. Buddy and Cindy are warm and welcoming hosts, with excellent tips for dinner and sightseeing. Nice to have off-street parking. Hot breakfast was outstanding, and even enjoyed homeade granola. Definitely will stay here again!

Room Tip: Room #1 is 2nd floor, many windows overlooking driveway and quiet street. Morning sun, beautifully decorated.

Buddy and Cindy are great! They are so lively and full of energy...they truly love what they do! We've stayed in Rooms #1 and #4. Both the rooms were decorated beautiful and very clean. The B&B was within walking distance of many shops and restaurants and a short driving distance to downtown. Also, each morning, the breakfast was delicious (and I am not a big breakfast eater)! Great place....5 stars!

Room Tip: Room 4 was my favorite. It was on the second floor. The room had a very classic feel and the bathroom had a nice shower with 2 shower heads.. Room 1 was also very nice and on the 3rd floor. That room was a little more modern but still very nice. Also, the bathroom had a nice separate tub.

This is the second time my partner and I have stayed at the Inn on Carleton. Both times we remarked at the friendliness of staff (but not intrusive), the quality of the accommodations and the deliciousness of the breakfast.

This is truly a lovely place to spend some time.

My wife and I spent one night here at the end of our trip to Maine. The staff was courteous and extremely friendly. Our room (#4) was clean and well-appointed and breakfast in the morning was great. As others have pointed out, the inn itself is located on a quiet street away from the noise of the city, which was a perfect match for what we were looking for. The off-street parking is also a huge plus. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 4 has a nice clawfoot tub - small, but nice. The corner shower is separate from the tub and has two shower heads.

I stayed for 1 night in March. This Inn is a great place to stay in Portland. It's on a quiet street, with easy parking. The rooms are very comfortable and well furnished. Breakfast was great. and Buddy (owner) and Cindy (assistant innkeeper) are both very friendly welcoming. It's within walking distance of a few great restaurants. I highly recommend staying here if you want something other than a hotel and like the West End.

Room Tip: I like the 3rd (top) floor, only because I don't like hearing footsteps above me. Rooms 4, 5 and 6 are on the 3rd floor. I was in room 4, which is large and on the street side, but it was still very quiet. Room 6 is in the back and is mostly likely to be the quietest. Room 5 is between the others.
