“Great Place to Walk or Run”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

The Back Cove Trail goes around on of the many bays in the area. I believe the all around walk or run is about three miles. It has workout stations and the views are wonderful. Sometimes in the summers there are many kites flying. If you need a run while in Portland, this is the place. Parking is opposite the small Mall.

“Back Cove”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

The view is are enticing while you walk the 3 1/2 miles around along the water. Or you just Relax on a bench or walk your dog. It is a peaceful spot to have lunch from the food trucks.

“Trail Runs a Ring Around the Cove”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

Back Cove is an almost circular 340-acre tidal basin. A wide, hard-packed and paved, 3.6-mile loop trail makes a circuit around the entire cove beside Baxter Boulevard and I-295. The trail has 1/10-mile markers. Much of it affords good views of Portland’s skyline. It’s popular with stroller-pushers, dog-minders, power-walkers, runners, bicyclists, and Nordic skiers of all physical types and it’s used in all seasons. Memorial linden trees line part of the route. A granite and bronze memorial commemorates a local mayor. Free parking is found at the trail’s western end or in adjacent Payson Park. Closures due to excavations for a large public works project will obstruct using the trail as a loop until late 2013.

“Nice Run, Nice View Easy Access”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2013

This is one of the top places to do a short, easy run in Portland. Parking is almost always available (Wednesday nights in summer are tough due to a weekly race). Nice scenery, and if you are lucky there is a T'ai chi man there most days doing his thing just off the trail.
