If not for a recommendation by the Inn keeper of our B&B, Deb at The Inn at Park Spring (A lovely B&B. Please see my review of it.), my husband and I never would have known about this place. Once Deb told us the Congress Bar & Grill had mussels from Prince Edward Island, I was sold.
Arriving at the Congress Bar & Grill it seemed this was a local dive bar and I did not have high hopes for our meal. Boy was I wrong. I ordered the mussels (picture attached) and my husband ordered a salad with calamari. Both were some of the best food I have ever eaten anywhere. My only regret is that we did not visit this place a second time. I cannot stress enough the quality of the food. Each bite was more delicious than the last.
They also had a pretty good beer selection and reasonable prices. For two beers, the food, tax and tip we spent $40. Not too shabby for a spectacular meal. If we ever return to Portland, we will absolutely go back to The Congress Bar and Grill.
