Fantastic location, beautiful room, very friendly. Nice continental breakfast with yummy warm blueberry pie! and freshly baked sweet breads. Free on-site parking lot. Bike storage in garage. Yes we arrived late and found key in envelope, but that was OK for us and is not an unusual practice with B & Bs. We had the Longfellow room on the second floor. It has a 'side' room with desk, and kitchen area: mini-fridge, microwave and sink, and invitation to snack on the items in the pantry area. Only drawback was small "quaint" bathroom.

If you are looking for a warm welcome upon arrival, go somewhere else. The owner doesn't live on site and we arrived late afternoon our key to the room was left out in an envelope. The parlor door was closed so it was not inviting. We managed to find our way up 2 flights of winding stairs with falling! The room was in dire need of some TLC and decorating. Not 1 mirror for a person under 6 ft.!!! Shower leaked and curtain was moldy. I found better quality towels in yard sales. The pantry was supposed to be stocked with food, it had browned bananas and small bags of chips. Signs saying if you took soda out of the room you'd be charged $1.50 and shower goods $8.00 bottle. Continental breakfast in small room with signs on tables saying not to put tables together added to our dissatisfaction. We later found out there was porch in back . The area was not very desirable and I was very distressed that the front door was left unlocked and not one was there. We have traveled B and B's in the states and in Europe and this was the #1 worst one of all.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Great rates , well kept . Off street private parking lot . very Helpful staff . Clean comfortable rooms .complimentary refreshments in room . . Loved it . Walking distance to anywhere in old Portland . I stay mainly in chain hotels , but now after my stay here , that will change . I would return here in a heart beat .

i thought this place was fantastic! it's a bed and breakfast in an old brick row home, and it's very cool. all of the rooms are named after writers, we were in the longfellow suite. the room was great. the staff was pretty much non-existent (we checked ourselves in, there was an envelope with our name on it waiting at the front desk when we got there), but that's fine with me. they brought us fresh towels every day, and anything you could want was out for you in 2 common areas (food, coffe, tea, water, ice, toiletries, movies). the location was great. there are tons of really good restaraunts right around the hotel, and it's about a 15-20 minute walk down to the old port area (and if you don't want to walk, it's about $5 to take a cab there). there was so much great stuff to see and do in the area, i would definitely go back, and i would certainly stay at the percy inn again!

What a lovely inn to stay in. We were in the John Keats room on the third floor which was spacious and beautifully decorated and had a really nice bathroom. The only downside to being on the third floor is the very narrow, curving staircases which are difficult to navigate when carrying two suitcases! The inn is in a quiet street yet only minutes walk from the bustle of downtown Portland. There was a good selection at breakfast and the staff were very friendly.

We stayed there in the beginning of July. Dale was there to greet us but that is a rarity as he lives in Miami for half the year. The staff there is very cordial and helpful.
We stayed in the Longfellow room which has a very comfortable bed and a nice little side room with a wet bar and good books. The TV really needs updating as it is quite old. Even though the room faces the street it is extremely quiet due to the old construction.
The only downside to this room is the size of the shower. It's about the same size as the TV, very small. My wife is petite and was uncomfortable in there. Not bad, not great but the price is right up there.

We loved our stay at the Percy Inn! We were enchanted upon finding our names on an envelope just inside the door, and our room was extremely inviting with big windows, a cold bottle of cider on the bar, and the radio softly playing.
Our room was light, extremely comfortable, and we loved the little side room with radio, bar, and small library. Loved having a collection of DVDs and a piano to amuse us downstairs, and an excellent selection of food and drink for breakfast. We especially enjoyed all the complimentary touches- from little candies in a bowl by the bed, to water bottles in the small fridge, and hot coffee and tea anytime we wanted.
The host was hands-off, but that was perfect for our honeymoon and we appreciated the privacy, but attention to detail. We hardly needed to ask him anything, because it had all been anticipated and provided for already. Lovely little back garden for sitting too. I often think back to the Percy and hope to return for an anniversary some day.
