The Inn at Park Spring
Ranked #3 of 11 Portland B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 26, 2014

We are fans of Inn on Carlton. We are now fans of Inn at Park Spring,as well. Buddy has a flair. We found the the recent up grades, color changes to be very nice and comforting. And more to come. The inn is small and very well located to walk in Portland: museums, restaurants, shows , the old port and so much more are just steps away. I said Buddy hit 2 home runs #1 buying Inn at Park Spring (in September) # 2 hiring Deb to run the place warm friendly informative interesting and a good cook. Well done. There are many good B&Bs in Portland you really can not make a bad choice but this and Carlton are a cut above.

My girlfriend and I booked a room at the Inn at Park Spring a few days in advance for a weekend getaway. We didn't know what to expect because neither of us had stayed in a bed and breakfast before, but we were very pleasantly surprised by how fantastic this place was! We had a lovely experience, and the Inn at Park Spring was the perfect place to stay for a weekend in Portland. We arrived at 3 pm to check in, rang the doorbell, and Debbie greeted us warmly and showed us around. She was just pulling (delicious) peanut butter cookies out of the oven when we arrived, and she gave a nice history of the building and the new ownership. We stayed in room two for one night (Saturday-Sunday) and have nothing but positive things to say about the room and location of the inn.

The room was clean, bright, and warmly decorated, and a new queen-sized sleigh bed had been put in a few weeks prior to our stay. The bathroom was plenty big. Overall, the room suited our needs wonderfully, and the atmosphere for the inn was quaint and intimate.

We walked into Old Port both days (about a 15-minute easy walk), and Debbie oriented us to some of the sights and restaurants in Portland since it was our first time there. We got a late checkout on Sunday, and Debbie offered to let us leave our car in the inn parking lot so we could continue to walk around town unencumbered. Overall, I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to couples interested in spending a few days in Portland!

Room Tip: Room two just got a new queen-sized sleigh bed a few weeks ago and we loved it! There was plenty of...

We took advantage of Park Spring's mid-week rate and we were not disappointed. Booked the night after Christmas for a quick holiday week getaway to this surprisingly vibrant Maine city. The Inn is just a short walk away from the Portland Museum of Art, Congress St. and downtown. We were welcomed by Deb, who showed us around the beautifully appointed common areas of the inn, asked about our plans and made some suggestions for restaurants. We ate at both places she recommended and they were great.

Our 3rd floor room was clean and comfortable with great views of the neighborhood. The adjoining private bath has his/her sinks and a nice shower. The bedroom had great bedclothes and a super-comfy mattress.

Breakfast the next morning was excellent - really great eggs benedict served in a cozy breakfast room.

All in all great place to stay in Portland.

Room Tip: We liked the 3rd floor!

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. We were in room 3 on the 3rd floor and the room was spotless, cozy and decorated tastefully and modern with a black & white theme. Contrary to some other reviews talking about the "narrow staircases", they weren't narrow at all - they were simply normal staircases and it was no problem at all getting our suitcases up the two flights. I'm sure if you were to need help, assistance would be provided. Breakfast was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Both mornings stared out with a yogurt parfait and the first morning was a decadent gourmet french toast with bacon and the second morning was eggs benedict with crab meat. We were so satisfied and full both days we didn't have to eat lunch! Debra was extremely warm and kind and the other woman (sorry I forget her name!) helping in the morning with breakfast was equally as friendly. It was so nice to return to the b&b at the end of our night and enjoy hot tea and cookies that were left out and sit in the living room before going up to our room - we felt right at home. In addition to the amazing room, service and food, the location can't be beat. Once we parked our car we only moved it to drive to the Allagash Brewery (highly recommended!) - we could easily walk to Old Port in 12 minutes and the neighborhood surrounding is safe and charming. We will highly recommend The Inn at Park Spring to anyone going to Portland!! We can't wait to return in the warmer weather!

Hubby and I spent one night here in November. We were in Portland to see a show at the State Theater. Debbie, the innkeeper was wonderful and welcoming. We were the only guests that night because it was a Monday (not a big night for getaways usually I think). Our room was very nice but we were told that it's going to be remodeled soon so I won't go into the details since those details will be changing. The Inn had had some recent freshening up and the common areas are quite cozy. Location was great for us since it was a short walk up the street to have dinner and see the show. Breakfast at the inn was delicious as well. The dining area has water and snacks and you can make a nice cup of tea anytime you want which made it very nice. The only minor thing which may be an issue for some is that you can hear trucks drive by at all hours. It's not a country location so that's to be expected and it didn't bother us but if you are looking for total silence you may want to consider that. A room on a higher floor might be better for you. We slept fine though.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a getaway for her birthday that didn't involve a whole lot of travel. This place was recommended to us by a friend of ours and I must admit it more than met our expectations. Nothing compares to home like home but if home is 1 than this place is 1A . The overall vibe of the location was so warm and inviting. The innkeeper Deb is such a beautiful person. She makes each and every guest feel like family . She goes the extra mile to ensure that the guests are well taken care of. The location is great too because everything is within walking distance. I highly recommend Boone's for a great dinner and creama for a good espresso of macchiato ....would stay will stay and going to stay again.....Buddy the owner is also a great guy as well his attention to detail is second to none. This place is definitely going to become a hotspot in Portland so book early because their calendar is filling up....

Room Tip: Room 2 is awesome but rooms on the 3rd floor are just as nice.
