We had a fun visit to Maine Mead Works. The offer a very tasting of all their meads. Although their mead is not in the traditional style, it is tasty and worth the visit.

Free tour and tasting which was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. I left with four bottles and would definitely go back!
The mead is excellent. Had a wonderful free tasting and the chance to chat with one of the owners. The Lavendar and Hopped meads were my favorites. Do not miss the opportunity to visit.
Maine Mead Works is a small operation that seems to really care about being a local product. The staff was energetic and enthusiastic and really knowledgeable about all of the varieties of mead and the ingredients. This is a great stop when visiting Portland.
Christina was a great tasting host and tour guide. We really loved the Lavender and Bourbon mead. We had a leisurely tasting and interesting tour, and were there for maybe an hour. Fun for winos!
Also - it's a small operation, so don't expect some elaborate factory or a huge store or extensive grounds or anything. Lots of character and really cool to learn about an idea growing into what it is today. Neato!
