“"Somewhat-hidden" Gem”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

As many will say, this amazing, but somewhat hidden Bier cafe is one of the best belgian beer bars in the world. If you can't make it to Ebenezer's in Brunswick or are looking for a great place to eat/drink in downtown Portland, this is the place!

They have one of the best collections of Belgian and Maine beers. They offer great food and a nice outdoor patio. For serious beer drinkers, hand out in the underground "cave" and learn from the knowledgeable bartenders.

Note that this is not a sports bar. There aren't TVs, video games, and darts or scantily clad women serving you beer. Go somewhere else for that. Looking for a 2009 Allagash Fluxus? A 2008 Roquefort? Then this is your place!

“Great beer, good food, friendly scene”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

This indoor-outdoor brewpub has a wonderful laid-back vibe, an excellent beer list, and feels far more secluded/off the beaten track from the downtown Portland scene - even though it's right near downtown. Outdoor games, an oldschool CD player blasting fun retro tunes. The food was pretty good for such a place - but not quite as excellent as I had hoped. Still, the mix of ages and the chill nature of the placed trumped.

“Great Beers and Atmosphere”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

Would definitely go back for beers and the atmosphere. Awesome outdoor deck where you can play cornole and sit at picnic tables. Servers are all great. Awesome beer selection. Menu was a little lacking, so we went elsewhere for food, but would definitely go back, would just probably eat first elsewhere.

“Everything about this place is great”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

Just go, enjoy, and love it! One of my favorite dives in Portland. Beer selection is fantastic, small plates are great, ambiance is lovely, just go in the Summer. It gets a little chilly in the Winter.
