We got a great rate ($135) and a great room (224) in a central location in Portland. Rooms were clean and new, staff was friendly, parking was cheaper than other options (parking is insanely predatory in this area). We used the pool which was (almost) heated and they offer free wifi and breakfast. We opted to walk to Standard Baking for excellent chocolate croissants/coffe and there are plenty of restaurants within a 10 minute walk.

Room Tip: 224 was a corner room overlooking the busy intersection, which we liked for our kids to point out al...

It is a newer property. Fast elevators. There is a restaurant in the same building yet there are many within blocks of walking. I rate this property excellent. The King room I had in 307 was very large and very quiet and comfortable. I stay at Hampton Inn a lot and never had to wait for more than 1 or more people to check in. Arrived and there were 5 people in line so the lobby area was a bit crowded. There were 2 people assisting the guest for checking in. Seems a few people were not just straight check in. Seems the check in area is a bit small and doesn't have the ability to have had a 3rd person although he was there to help with the snacks and drinks. The business center only had 1 computer out of 3 working. Didn't have the time to report it. None of this is really complaints....just some comments so it can be better. I was 100% satisfied given the time I had to be so.

Room Tip: I was in 307. So for a view you may want the even side. My view was of the parking lot.

I really appreciate the comments about the front desk and checking in to our hotel. The desk area is somewhat limited but there is space for other staff members to help with directions, restaurant information and other guest assitance.

Please come see us again soon.

Beautiful, new Hampton. Always recognize Hilton status, upgraded water view rooms are worth it. Many dining and sightseeing options within walking distance. Quick, easy shuttle. Excellent breakfast as expected at better Hamptons. The breakfast is always replenished with hot and cold foods throughout the morning. The GM of this property actually cares about guests, same with the housekeepers, shuttle drivers, and breakfast attendants. Probably one of the cleanest hotels I've ever been in. Great wifi. I truly look forward to returning. Only negative is the attached Sebago Cafe, there are better places nearby. (They are not related to the Hampton, just attached)

Room Tip: Upgrade to water view is worth it.

Rooms were above average and clean. Hallway a little noisy @ times, but overall a good stay. Close to shops and waterfront. FYI: Parking is $15 per night and is valet only. The hotel is about 15 minutes from airport.

Not a very charming place but okay for one or two nights. Had most unhealthy breakfast 'buffet' ever. Reminded us a lot of Ikea. Everything was plastic and of low quality. Rooms were okay, location central but not as central as other places like the Portland Harbor Hotel for example. Also the wifi didn't work. A good thing to mention though is the pub where we had some excellent Maine lobster for a fair price.

Thank you for taking time to share your comments about your recent stay with us. I was sorry to see we did not meet your expectations. We are constantly changing our breakfast menu. There are some great bakeries within walking distance of our hotel. We include some of their items to accompany items that are required of all Hampton Inns. We will expand our offerings to include local produce when it becomes available.

We hope we have an opportunity to be of service to you in the future.

My husband and I spent a long weekend in Portland and were extremely pleased with the Hampton Inn. The location can't be beat. It is within walking distance of just about everything which is wonderful. The hotel itself, as with most Hampton Inns, feels a little more stylish and sophisticated compared to other chains in the same price range. The staff was very friendly and helpful recommending spots to check out in the city.

One of the highlights of staying here is the continental breakfast. We're not talking about some hard bagels and coffee. Each morning I had a hot breakfast that offered everything from omelets and hash browns, to sausage and bacon. Everything was delicious and was constantly being refilled. While Portland has so many great restaurants to choose from, we found Sebago brewing company, which is conveniently located next door, to be an ideal spot for late night drinks. The drink prices were very cheap and the atmosphere was very cozy.

The room was very big with a comfy king size bed and enormous shower. It was a wonderful place to relax after a long day of walking.

My only complaint is the valet parking that is mandatory. It is 15 dollars a day and the parking lot is just behind the hotel so it seemed a little expensive, but it meant not having to find a garage or street parking so we just went with the flow.

Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again if we're up in Portland.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in the waterfront section of Portland on a recent weekend getaway.

The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The valet greeted us warmly and assisted with our bags. The front desk staff were helpful and efficient.

The room was very comfortable but definitely not high end. There were sticky notes on the bed frame to remind us that all bedding including duvets were changed prior to our visit (very odd!). We know they change them and that is why we choose Hampton Inn. It seemed a bit tacky.

We had a partial port view and enjoyed watching the boats in the distance and people passing by the hotel on the street below. The hotel is close enough to the Old Port area without the hassle of being right on the main drag (noise, cars etc. It is set back just one block but it makes a huge difference when it comes to noise.

The Buffet Breakfast included hot and cold items like eggs, potatoes, sausage, oatmeal, cold ceral, breads, pastries, waffles, yogurt, tea, coffee, juices, etc. Everything was hot, well prepared and kept very clean.

We will be back!
