When driving you have to be extra careful because their were tons of pedestrians.
When you are walking around you can easily hit lots of places.
There is plenty of parking but most of the spots on the street go quickly.

You can't walk ten steps without encountering a restaurant that has a great menu of a wide variety of seafood from lobster (of course) to scallops, calamari, fresh fish, and more. Walk up and down the sidewalk to have your choice of great places to eat and drink. Most restaurants are family friendly. During the busy summer, try to make reservations, some take them and some don't.

Just decided to do some walking up and down Wharf street and Commercial street and the surrounding area near the water. Very nice points of interest, shopping and lots of restaurants to choose from.

Much of Portland is a walking city and we loved Commercial Street..Fantastic, unique shops and great restaurants.. Portland certainly has change over the decades, for the better, and the waterfront area and commercial street are major redevelopments..keeping some of the old with the new. I loved the cobblestone streets and the walking..very pet friendly and safe area.
