Pleasant shopping area with a nice view of the water. Easy to find parking off season. Shops are quaint.

It was 50 degrees today, and after a long, cold winter, walked along this historic street celebrating Spring . Very interesting historic architecture, and some wonderful places to visit. Flatbreads has excellent pizza with a view of the harbor and is kid friendly, Standard Baking Company, that has great bread and assorted pastries. We loved the rolls, Maine multigrain bread, and every single pastry we could taste. The Harbor Fish Market also has a wonderful selection of fish, lobster and oysters. We ran out of time to visit other establishments, but will certainly be back!

For more than 40 years we've enjoyed trips to commercial Street to buy seafood, dine, shop, or simply walk and windowshop. There have been changes (new waterfront condos, for example) but many of the restaurants and shops have had reasonable longevity. An interesting combination of shops catering to tourists and those used by locals for everyday needs (bakeries, ferry to islands on Casco Bay, fish markets).

I love walking around the Old Port/Commercial Street during the summer. There are several shops and restaurants and I love that the area is very dog friendly. Several shops allow your well behaved dog to accompany you into their stores and there are several outdoor seating restaurants that allow you to bring your dog to eat with you.
