Stay away from this hotel while the construction is underway. In addition, the noise from their bar is unbelievably loud with people screaming and staff unwilling or unable to stop such behavior. Too bad, seems a nice spot -- but I'd never go again until these problems are solved.

Wonderful location! The top floor was being renovated while we were there, but the noise was minimal. Apparently, it was also the off-season so we had the spa mostly to ourselves! Rarely saw another guest - Jacuzzi to ourselves, as well as sauna and steam room. The women's changing room was also wonderfully appointed. Also, breakfast of lobster eggs Benedict was heavenly!!!! We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Portland (and for more than one night this time)!

The decor is a little odd, and the hotel itself is a little odd (the system of elevators/half floors is very confusing) but keep in mind it is an old hotel. We had a nice stay, comfortable beds, with a large clean bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The construction (which we luckily were informed of prior to our stay) was a bit of an issue though... We were awoken very early in the morning everyday by a work crew banging around outside our room, although we were told we would not be near construction. Nevertheless, the management provided us with "complimentary" breakfast to apologize. However, we were informed that "complimentary" means a "15 dollar limit per person." Of course, it's the thought that counts, but a 15 dollar limit? Really? Pretty cheap. We ended up being only 3 dollars over the "limit," and they didn't even offer to cover that extra 3 dollars.

I was having trouble deciding which hotel to stay in and I am glad we went with the Portland Regency Hotel. It is walking distance to everything you need. When we arrived we were told that construction was going on in the hotel but I didn't hear any during our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel has everything you need. We loved the historic feel to the hotel and would definitely go back.

A great hotel in the middle of the Old Port. Great location, fantastic facilities, including spa, workout center and lounge. Walking distance to numerous breweries, pubs, restaurants and shopping. Polite and conscientious service.
