Owner description: Victoria Mansion, also known as the Morse-Libby House, is the finest example of residential design from the pre-Civil War era in America. With superb architecture and well-preserved original interiors that were among the most lavish and sophisticated in their day, it is an unparalleled document of America’s highest aspirations in architecture, interior design, and the decorative arts. Our history, a quick tour, and our present-day efforts at restoring the Mansion convey an impression of the significance of this unique site, which is of national and even international importance.

Every surface in this Victorian home was carved or decorated. You have to see it to believe it. A very well-preserved part of our history. I think even children would appreciate seeing how folks lived 150+ years ago.

A wonderful period house in Portland. The guide gave an informative tour and was very knowledgeable. Not like seeing the grand houses of Newport, RI, but is what was being done in Portland at the time.

I've done quite ALOT of house tours including mansions that the architect of this places built as well. STUNNING entryway and very elaborate rooms. Draw back was that you can't take interior photos (which is very common for these tours) and the tour guide seemed a bit "off"- not in a mean way but there was something a little unsettling in the presentation. Nice guy & he did know his stuff but the delivery could've been smoother. Regardless, the architecture and details stand alone.

This house has been preserved from an earlier era. It is opulent and sumptuous. In this time of more modern buildings this one is a treat. The design and construction are simply wonderful.

This mansion build in 1868-60 is a spectacular example of the opulent Victorian style. Standing in one room along could take hours to see all the detail in the architectural elements along with the furniture. Most of the furnishing are original to the house including several of the carpets. The docent who gave the tour was very knowledgeable about the history of the house and its occupants. It was amazing to me that the original owner only use the house for a few weeks each summer! This is definitely a must see attraction but I would not recommend it for young folks.
