Otto is the perfect Portland pizza complement to flatbread. Slices vs whole pie, organic vs conventional, fast vs slow

For some of the funkiest mixes of pizza (potato pizza really?) go here and grab a few slices to see what you like best. Keep an open mind. For example, when I was young, peanut butter on Ritz crackers with a splash of ketchup was a horrible food image but proved to be a staple in a struggling family of six boys. Otto's pizza is fun, different and appreciated by ALL ages. Go ahead just try it!

We recently tried the larger sized Otto's Pizza location on 565 Congress. From the quality of pizza slices from their small site I knew the place would be busy on a Friday night. It was packed and we had to wait about 20 minutes, they do take reservations. We ordered 4 small pizzas, 4 of us dining,so we could try many combinations.Everyone was delicious, and unique.Service and the beer were both good too.
We had salad, 2 beers each,4 pizzas for just less than $80.

If you're going to make great pies with fancy ingredients, you have to be able to make a great basic pizza. Otto's can do that, and can make great ingredient ones too. I'm a basic person, but the sausage and vidalia onion is my second favorite. Also check out the location at 225 Congress St., at the corner of Washington Ave., which has more seating room.

I regularly eat at Pepe's in CT. Otto's is in that league (I'd give Pepe's an edge by a hair).
