“Delicious & Fun!”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

No matter whether you love to eat or cook or both, this is a really fun tour. The variety of the stops was terrific - savory, sweet, wine & beer, etc. Unlike other culinary tours I've been on, there is no pressure to purchase anything at any of the stops. The idea is that you could go back later to the places you like, instead of carrying heavy bags around on the tour. We had Pat as tour guide. She is extremely knowledgeable about the food business and gave us great restaurant recommendations as well.

“Nice Surprise”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

First time visiting the city of Portland, ME and this seemed like a great way to become familiar with the city and enjoy some of the local food - we weren't disappointed - and we can't wait to return for another visit. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable - only criticism is that she was too softspoken - could not hear her over the traffic and when you are walking with a group, you cannot always be close enough to hear. It would also have been nice to be given time to make a purchase at all the great places we visited but we walked all over the city - often forgot where we'd been or how to get there. We were obviously on a very strict timeline and as a result... we didn't make a single purchase - we wanted to - and would have if given the opportunity to do so while we visited each shop.

“Chocolate Tour -- WOW!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

This is the fourth Maine Foodie Tour we've taken. We've previously been on the Kennebunkport Culinary Trolley Tour (my review of it is posted under Kennebunkport tours); the Culinary Walking Tour in Portland; and the Port City Beer Tour (not currently offered). They were all excellent, so when we recently had some chocoholic friends visit us, we were anxious to try their Chocolate Tour. We weren't disappointed – this was another fun, interesting, and very tasty tour.

We visited 6 different places. The quality and quantity of the treats we were served were very impressive. We had 3 delectable goodies at the first stop alone – strawberries dipped in chocolate balsamic; a delicious truffle; and the best cocoa drink I've ever had. This was followed at subsequent stops by a scrumptious cupcake; fudge; yogurt topped with chocolate nibs (very interesting – we actually learned a good bit about chocolate on this tour); and a rich gluten-free brownie. The tour had the perfect happy ending when we stopped for a chocolate martini in a lovely, relaxing setting.

Pat, our guide, was warm and knowledgeable, and really enhanced our experience. We continue to highly recommend Maine Foodie Tours for its entertaining and good-value tours.

“Chocolate Tour: Wonderful and a Great Value”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

We took a spur of the moment Chocolate Walking tour when we saw the sign while wandering around Old Portland. We enjoyed the selection of restaurants and food. There were was excellent and unique pairings such as chocolate balsamic reduction with strawberries. Our guide eloquently articulated her passion for food and we all shared in her inquisitive spirit. The restaurant recommendations she offered alone were worth the affordable price. Perhaps most memorable was the conversation with the other tour participants – fellow foodies sharing their stories and passion. I highly recommend for guided tour fans, chocolate lovers and/or foodies. I would have happily paid 50% more for this tour.

“Had a great ime”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

My husband and I just took this tour and highly recommend it. Our guide was both charming and highly knowledgeable. The variety of shops where we stopped was interesting, and the food/drink portions were fine for this type of tour. We learned a lot about what Portland has to offer, foodwise!
