We just returned from a three night stay at the Marriott Residence Inn. We love Portland, especially the Old Port. Lots to see, great places to eat and shop, take the train, or ship out on the mail boat, and on a rainy day, walk through the Portland Art Museum. Most everything is within easy walking distance from the Residence Inn. The room was a studio, very comfortable, complete with a kitchen, no mini fridge here, full size. We liked the opportunity to provide our own meals, brew our own coffee and be able to relax in the living area. This Marriott offers a hot breakfast and happy hour snacks included in your room price. If you did this every day, you would only need to eat out perhaps once a day, or not at all with your own kitchen. The hotel staff was excellent. Yes, we expect friendly staff at all Marriott properties. This front desk was eager to make your stay as exciting as you wanted to make it. The only down side of this hotel is the parking garage is next door, but not connected, so you do have to walk between facilities, up and down stairs or elevators to get to your car. This time of year the price is a bit high, 300-350 per night. This is on par with other hotels in the downtown area. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back to take up residence again in downtown Portland.

Room Tip: If you are staying more than a day and enjoy morning coffee in your room, only two four cup packs a...

This was our second time staying at the Residence Inn. We like the clean, nicely furnished and appointed suites, the location (downtown), the proximity of the hotel to the biking trail, and the fact that they have free breakfast, a free Manager's reception Mon-Wed from 5-7PM, and a bar that has two happy hours! Also, the staff are very accommodating. The hotel is about a mile from Whole Foods and Trader Joe's so you can stock up on goodies to have in the room. Parking is conveniently located in the adjacent parking garage. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My wife and I like to stay where we can cook some meals, walk easily to waterfront/downtown eateries and shops and not have to drive. Portland is one of our favorite getaways and we like staying at Marriott properties. This hotel fit our criteria. We were very happy with the room. It was comfortable and modern. The fully equipped kitchen is really a kitchenette with no stove and only a microwave. But it functioned fine for us. The room we stayed in was not a suite. Extras such as free breakfast, free dinner, and free grocery shopping can be useful but we tend to cook and shop for ourselves due to dietary restrictions and food allergies. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We plan on staying here again when we return next year.

My husband and I stayed in Portland for a week and used that location as the base for traveling to different locations around the state. The Residence Inn was a perfect choice for us. We stayed in a suite and were able to bring in our own food and/or have breakfast in the hotel provided by the hotel. The location, ambiance and amenities of the hotel were all just what we had hoped for. The stay was perfect!!

Room Tip: We chose a suite on the inside of the hotel overlooking \the courtyard which was quieter than a room...

We stayed downtown for one night before exploring the rest of Maine. I wish we could have stayed longer. Very clean and comfortable hotel. Excellent location where you can walk to the working seaport, great restaurants, and boating excursions. You can also walk to the Eastern Promenade, as well as the oldest cemetery in Portland which was very cool to visit, and to the Longfellow child home. I was pleasantly surprised at what a great location this property was. We also were able to speak with Mark at the concierge desk who had excellent recommendations. And we discovered his photography is on display in the lobby. Beautiful photos.

The wife and I needed a quick stop over hotel for our trip to see the rest of Maine. The hotel is great and is reasonably new. There are some nice water views of the harbor if you get a room on that side. Use the parking garage next store and don't park on the street as this is a sketchy area in what seems to be a warehouse district. I would be cautious about walking around after dark. But a few blocks away, things seem much nicer.

Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast they offered was acceptable and worked out great for us since we had young kids. The location was not as centralized as I'd hope but was a very short walk to main port area, about 10 minutes. I would definitely stay here again.
